About the adventure

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a gothic horror campaign frame for the Daggerheart RPG, plunging players into a haunted valley steeped in folklore, forgotten sins, and creeping dread. Centered around the village of Sleepy Hollow, the story unfolds in a land where fables come alive, the dead whisper through trees, and ancient evils stir beneath the soil. Players assume roles as villagers and outsiders drawn into a spiraling mystery after the death of the last Lantern Keeper—guardians who once sealed the valley’s horrors. As fear spreads, the legends awaken: the Headless Horseman rides again, and the Hollow begins to bleed. Structured across five acts, the campaign guides players through escalating encounters with mythic terrors such as the Babadook, Baba Yaga, and the Chupacabra Queen. Each act is tied to a specific region of the Hollow and includes cinematic quests that explore grief, ancestral guilt, and the toll of fear. Mechanics such as Fear Tracks, Corrupted Cards, and Lantern Shrines provide dynamic tools for GMs to escalate suspense and offer narrative consequences. Special rules allow fear to corrupt player abilities, while shrines offer brief respite and chances for redemption or insight. The setting thrives on emotional horror and folklore-inspired storytelling, drawing inspiration from Sleepy Hollow, The Babadook, and Over the Garden Wall. It encourages deep character development through roles like descendants of lantern keepers, believers in old tales, or skeptics grappling with supernatural visions. With evocative locations, such as the Hollow Grove and Widow’s Rise, and unforgettable adversaries like the Wraith of the First Lanternkeeper, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow delivers a haunting, character-driven journey through darkness, dread, and the power of facing one’s fears.

About me

Hello. Looking forward to exploring new games and systems with you all. I have GM’ed dnd5e and a bunch of pbta games but currently playing a lot of daggerheart and pathfinder 2e, also diving into starfinder 2e. Played some free league games and love learning teaching new games as well. I think one of my main strengths as a GM is my patience and ability to teach games.
