About the adventure
You feel the ground tremble beneath your boots as the sun beats down on the Drylands. Dust swirls in the wind, mingling with the sharp glow of essentia crystals jutting from the earth. Then, with a deafening crack, a shape rises from the desert floor — a colossus, towering higher than the mesas, its every step a quake that could swallow a town whole. You are no legend, no chosen one — just a rider, a gunslinger, a miner, a wanderer. But if you and your posse can’t bring down these Children of Godfell, no one will. Colossus of the Drylands is a Daggerheart campaign of Western grit and mythic scale, blending outlaw drama with awe-inspiring monster hunts. You’ll face titanic colossi, each a living puzzle tied to the ancient god Kudamat’s return. Between battles, explore dusty mining towns, clash with outlaw gangs, navigate faith and greed, and decide what you’re willing to sacrifice to save the Drylands. Whether you climb a god’s creation to strike at its heart or stand your ground against impossible odds, this is a story of ordinary folk called to do the extraordinary. Tone & Feel 🌵 Dusty & Gritty 😱 Terrifying & Awe-Inspiring 🌌 Eerie & Mythic 🤠 Larger-than-Life Themes 🔄 Breaking Cycles 🎭 Faith vs. Doubt 💰 Greed & Exploitation 🛡️ The Burden of Heroism ✨ Ordinary People, Extraordinary Feats Touchstones 🎮 Shadow of the Colossus 🤠 Red Dead Redemption 🪦 Deadlands 📚 On the Shoulders of Colossus ATTENTION: This is a Play-by-Post game (PBP) but we will be using Foundry VTT on The Forge for combat. Players will still be able to sign in and make their move at their leisure. If you are new to PBP games, no worries, newbies are most definitely welcome! Please read below for more info on PBP... If you have a busy schedule that makes it difficult to commit to weekly sessions then PBP might be good for you. PBP is conducted throughout the week at your own pace. These games are also great for people who are better writers than actors or people who prefer to take their time before coming up with a response to a question or predicament in game. Additionally, Daggerheart's mechanics lend themselves VERY well to this format, as it's more free form and lacks the need for initiative in combat.

About me
Hey everyone! I'm Chris and I love the art of story and storytelling. Away from the table, I’m a professional screenwriter and film director with some experience in acting as well. I’ve written, directed, and produced one feature film so far and I’m currently in the process of getting my follow up off the ground. I bring my love and knowledge of storytelling and performing to my games and believe my experience in those crafts helps me be a better GM. Additionally, like many of you, I have had a deep love affair with games all my life. Board games, card games, video games, and of course--TTRPGs. I grew up playing both D&D and Cyberpunk and got back into TTRPGs as an adult about 5 years ago. While I do have some experience being a player, most of my time at the tables has been spent in the role of GM.

Creating your character
I will set up a time for a short call or Discord chat with the player individually. We will go over a couple of preliminary things and I will ask the player to come up with a few ideas for different characters. They will bring those ideas to session zero and share them with the group. We'll build our characters together, then players will have the opportunity to go to Heroforge.com and build their custom mini. Finally, I ask players to write a paragraph or two on their backstory, which I will work into the story.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Must have accounts on the following websites (all accounts are free, no premium memberships necessary) - The Forge Discord Demiplane Hero Forge (for mini creation)
What Chris brings to the table
Our games are an exercise in collaborative storytelling, where GM and player both make decisions that dictate the direction of the story. As the GM, I provide players with a premium and immersive experience by using high-quality animated maps, music, sounds, animations--even with a pbp game because we are still using a VTT for our combat encounters. I'm a huge fan of my players! Providing an awesome experience for them is my number one priority. And as a reward to all who play in a long-form campaign from start to finish, my players will receive a custom mini of their PC that I will print, paint, and send to them.
Homebrew rules
While homebrew rules when I feel they are needed, I haven't yet found much to homebrew with Daggerheart yet. The book does have several instances where optional rules are offered and I'm generally in favor of them. These rules include: OPTIONAL RULE: MASSIVE DAMAGE If you ever take damage equal to double your Severe threshold, you mark 4 Hit Points. OPTIONAL RULE: DEFINED RANGES If your table would rather operate with more precise range rules, you can use a 1-inch grid battle map during combat. If you do, use the following guidelines for play: Melee: 1 square, Very Close: 3 squares, Close: 6 squares, Far: 12 squares, Very Far: 13+ squares, Out of Range: Off the battlemap OPTIONAL RULE: GOLD COINS If your group wants to track gold more granularly, you can add coins as your lowest denomination. Following the established pattern, 10 coins equal 1 handful.

How Chris creates a safe table
I will ask all players to look over the campaign's content warnings and list some lines and veils they might have. I also have them fill out the Monty Cook checklist. Then I compile these and go over some limits in Session 0 so everyone is aware. I will also utilize stars and wishes.
