About the adventure
Requiem of Shadows plunges players into the dark, tumultuous streets of 1920s and 30s New York, a city alive with jazz, speakeasies, and the simmering tension of prohibition. Beneath the gleaming skyline, vampires—Kindred—maneuver through a web of intrigue, maintaining the delicate balance of the Masquerade while mortal ambitions swirl violently around them. As organized crime consolidates power, the rise of the mafia reshapes neighborhoods and controls the flow of wealth, violence, and influence, creating a city where every decision carries deadly consequences. Players take on the roles of a coterie of vampires, navigating both mortal and supernatural politics while contending with the shadows of their own ambitions and the ghosts of their pasts. The campaign emphasizes the interplay between mortal crime and Kindred power. Mafia families are not mere background noise—they are active players in the city’s evolution, sometimes allies, sometimes pawns, and sometimes adversaries. From the brutal streets of Brooklyn to the jazz-filled halls of Harlem, each borough presents unique challenges, rivalries, and secrets. As players build influence, manipulate factions, and strike deals with powerful figures, they must constantly weigh ambition against survival, loyalty against betrayal, and secrecy against exposure. Every action has repercussions, threatening both the coterie and the fragile Masquerade that protects their hidden society from mortal discovery. Throughout Requiem of Shadows, themes of power, morality, and the cost of immortality come to the forefront. Vampire society is layered and complex, with the rigid structure of the Camarilla, the rebellious reach of the Anarchs, independent schemers, and occultist factions all vying for control of the city. Mystical threats, hidden agendas, and the ever-present rise of mortal crime force players to adapt, strategize, and confront both enemies and allies alike. The campaign’s narrative arcs take players from street-level intrigue to citywide power struggles, culminating in dramatic confrontations where the fate of New York’s Kindred—and its mortal underworld—hangs in the balance. In Requiem of Shadows, every choice shapes an empire built on blood, shadows, and the fragile veneer of civility.

About me
Just a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude. I've been the Forever DM (TM) for the past 15+ years in my TTRPG journey and have enjoyed every minute of it. I tend to focus, and even specialize, in narrative driven, character focused games with improvization as a core mechanic. The Golen Rule and Rule 0 are my bread and butter. The rules are there as guidelines and as long as the players (and DM) are having fun, the rules can be bent or even broken if it leads to a better story.

Creating your character
Character creation will take place on Discord before and during Session 0.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I run Discord for VC and conversation in and out of game, Foundry for VTT, and World Anvil for a campaign wiki for information.
What DM Daniel brings to the table
I provide the game books, VTT, and Discord. Rule of Cool is a highlight of my GMing style.
Homebrew rules
I don't have any premade homebrew rules. But I am always open to working out different options and tweaking things as the game progresses.

How DM Daniel creates a safe table
I typically run a free Session 0 where we create characters, go over and Lines or Veils. I tend to check in with players before, during, and after a session to make sure everyone is doing okay and to go over any issues that may have arisen during the session or between sessions. My "door" is always open and I am available nearly all the time for questions, comments, or concerns and I do my best to address them in a respectful and timely manner.
