About the adventure
"The world of Allhora is one of deep history and dark pasts. After the summoning of the planes, the war of attrition between the pantheons ripped the very fabrics of time. Entire civilizations were lost. Factions fought for space in the name of wrathful and jealous dieties. Heroes rose and fell. God killing kith and titans banded together to bring some semblance of order to this torn world. That was millennia long past. Now the world is one of political intrigue. Kith fighting amongst each other for power and money. This once broken world now full of all forms of life, from all planes of existence, a haven for those that seek a balance from the chaos. A target for those that know how to utilize this diverse world. Within the last year, The world we know and love has been divided Factions within factions, and full regions, full continents, waging all out war. Under the flag of the Grey Tower, A charismatic leader has turned people against each other. Calling the followers of all neutral and so-called chaotic gods the "unclean." Forcing them into reclamation dungeons, some never to be seen again, some return wearing the banner of the Grey Tower. Turning on their neighbors, friends, and families. The Legions of the Light have joined together to try and stop the spread of this menace. The Lords Council has been planning an invasion across the great expanse to the shadowed reaches of Mahlora. Thought to be impossible, the sheer size of a force needed to fight this evil would need to be... immeasurable. Perhaps a few adventurers may stand a chance?" This is a module I ran in 2024 for a group of Six players. Some had never played before, and some were seasoned DMs and players. Most of them survived. This is a pretty combat heavy campaign with some engaging roleplay. Once you have your backstory, we will run three pairs of adventurers through session zeros. Here we will go over the rules, set healthy boundaries, and expectations. Once we have all agreed the six of you will come together to begin this journey. Do you have a character that you have been dieing to play but haven't been allowed? Send it. Do you like to powergame? Great! That means I get to make bigger, badder encounters! Do you want a table that does not allow non-consentual PvP? This is for you! Do you like a nice balance of roleplay, combat, puzzles, and mystery solving? This is your game! About me
Hey I'm Nic/Kiltsman, I am a real life adventurer and game master. I am what is called a triple-crown thruhiker, a Navy Veteran, filmmaker, youtuber, and a resiliency adventure guide. Multiple times a year I take people from all walks of life out into the backcountry to learn to deal with lifes challenges and reconnect with nature. ANNNND I am also a huge nerd. I have been gaming since I can remember and playing DND/DM-ing since 2016. I have run multiple LVL 0-20 campaigns that took years to complete. I have professionally DM'd at Expos/Comic Con, running one/two/three-shots. I enjoy chaos and drama in a good story and in game, just not above the table. I enjoy creating the challenging encounters and watching my players find ways to destroy them in glorious or sometimes hilarious fashion. Most everything else about me you can find via a google search. I'm in it for the story, for the goosebumps, and the puns, so let's play... shall we?

Creating your character
I am a huge fan of creativity. If it is in an official book (and some Unearthed Arcana) I generally allow it, when it comes to character class, species, backstory, and feats. I reserve the right to collaborate on your characters backstory with you, with your permission and input of course. Feel free to write a novella for your character and I will do my best to incorporate what I can into the story. We will use Avrae! via discord to roll stats. We roll 7 sets of 4d6 keeping the highest 3, re-roll 8s/9s. (If you don't understand what this means, it's fine, I will walk you through it) You are supposed to be heroes, and heroes have good stats. (Some can even have ridiculously high stats) Starting equipment, and you can add as much visual flavor as you want to your builds. Magic items will be given out at session 0. I would recommend balancing the party with martials/casters/healers.... Also, play what you want, it's your adventure! Once you have your stats, I will open FoundryVTT and send you a link so you can go in and build your character in the game timeslot. I will also be on using discord available to walk you through importing your sheet or building it from scratch. (I have DNDBeyond importer, it does not always work) Once your character is built in-game, I will ask for any artwork you will want to use, or I can have some made based on your specifications. Then we can play!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
If you do not already: Please download and create a Discord profile. Once I have you set to go on Start Playing and you send me your profile name, I will import you to the channel on Discord. We will run via FoundryVTT, you do not have to download anything. There will be a pinned link on the Discord that will take you straight into the game. I recommend having a decent microphone and headphones. I do not require a webcam, but if you have one great! I will have mine on during the game. Do not be surprised if I send you a map of your hometown and then ask you to name the people your character would know there, or even the town itself. PLEASE, please, please, please... learn your characters abilities and attacks. (yes, new players too. you will have some leeway) I can remember a ton, but not everything. So, If you could learn your spells, attacks, and maybe even some of your backstory... I would be so grateful and it will help with the sessions running smoothly. If you have questions about anything, between and before sessions, I will gladly walk you through it. Or at the least, we can look at the rules together and come up with something.
What Nic brings to the table
I will be bringing a fully constructed world with interactive maps, tokens, and lore... so much lore... I do my best to do character voices, yes some are ridiculous, yes you can laugh at them/me. (Just know I match energies) I am a Rule of Cool DM, but if you think that the RAW makes sense in the moment, let me know. I will consider any views, but ultimately will make a decision based on the moment. All of the rolls done in game, even mine, are done publicly. If the dice decide it's a Nat 20 or a Nat 1, that is the decision. Let's embrace the fates given your characters by the dice. Nat 1s make for great storytelling. The first 3-4 sessions will be a guage of how the party works together, expect combat to be super easy or super hard, or balanced (I could get lucky). Session 5 the training wheels come off. Be ready for hard/deadly encounters, tough decisions. Also, some curveballs. I don't want to give too much away... this is a campaign about War, so be ready for anything! My goal for each session is for everyone to have fun, even the DM. So, I will check in at the end of session for feedback. I am also reachable via discord most days. I love honest and constructive feedback and do my best to reciprocate. I have a zero tolerance for above table bullying, racism, anti-lgbt speech, harrassment(of any kind), and general unkindness toward others. I'm all about conversations, but divisive topics are not to be discussed during gametime. If you need to talk politics/religion/specific beliefs to have a good time, this table is not for you. (on table or inter-character drama is great, just keep it in the game and don't make it personal) I will cover all of this in the session 0 as well.
Homebrew rules
Drinking your own health potion is a bonus action, pouring it down someone elses throat is an action Everyone starts with Inspiration, I give it out for all sorts of reasons, so USE IT, please. No Flanking rules. Sorry. PvP is not allowed unless you discuss it with me AND the person you are thinking about fighting with BEFORE session. If both parties agree to it and it adds to the story, cool. If either myself or the receiving player says no, it doesn't happen. This is non-negotiable.

How Nic creates a safe table
We will have an extensive session 0 to discuss do's and dont's. I have omitted all sorts of triggering aspects of campaigns without issue. So if you have reservations against certain things, you can tell me during session 0. I will also be utilizing the Deck of Player Safety, so that way if you change your mind on certain things it can be addressed privately/anonymously. Also, I will have discord private messaging for you to message me privately if needed. Always speak up, we are all playing this game together and no one should feel uncomfortable. Also, we will be taking a 10 minute break halfway through each session. This is a good time to message the DM with any concerns.
