About the adventure

The Party may be approached by various factions who require some simple errand or short quest, or Players may choose to investigate the Haunted House to gain information and hopefully also experience and treasure. The Party's decisions will lead to adventures that will impact on the town, the local council, and even the Kingdom. Players can expect lots of roleplaying with NPCs to uncover the mysteries of the town. Characters (chcts) will develop new skills in sea-faring and boat handling; earn reputation points; and discover new magics and items. Chcts earn experience (exp) from encounters and value of treasure, and can achieve milestones in their adventure. Alignment and Encumberance are relevant, and the party will spend time outdoors so weather, transport, camping, equipment are included in game time. My sources of 'Pirates Compendium', 'Sword Coast Adventures', 'Exploring the Realms', Manual of the Planes, Dieties & Demi-Gods, and the Wilderness Guide, Tasha's and Mordenkainen, provide a wider range of sub-class, archtype, backgrounds, and skills for chct creation. Saltmarsh's roughly five thousand residents are predominantly human, with the dwarven mining contingent of about two hundred workers the largest non-human faction in town. Elves and halflings draw no special notice, since the Silverstand hosts a wood elf enclave and a few halfling villages are tucked in the hills around town. The residents react to other visitors, especially tieflings and dragonborn, with a mixture of curiosity and fear.

About me

Over 30 years rpg from AD&D to 5e, I have DM'd a wide range of TSR/WOTC modules in both tabletop and online, providing challenging and innovative encounters and stories. I am engaged by both the challenge and the unexpected from the players as they mould the adventure to suit their characters. I offer original adventures that strike true with experienced rpg players and that will fulfill their character's destiny. I have several years experience with Roll20, D&D Beyond, Discord, and more recently Fantasy Grounds Unity.

What AnthonyGM brings to the table

I expect players to have fun and play in good humour. I play a NPC that can support the Party and so that I can enjoy roleplaying too. I encourage players to use their chct skills frequently and independently eg roll 'perception' or 'stealth' rather than waiting for GM to request. These successes or failures help to develop your chct in many ways which you can use to 'flesh out' the chct. So I award 'Inspirations' to players that roleplay creatively and 'in chct' that adds fun to the game. In combat, I prefer ROC to deal with all the various ways that an encounter may evolve as long as we stick with movement, action, bonus action in a round. I do not use flanking rules but there are other ways to gain advantage. Chcts will advance quickly in early sessions and pursue their targets with wits and skills, and from a range of narrative choices. Chcts will gain money quickly so there will always be 'shopping' opportunities for chcts to improve equipment or stock up on potions...but will always involve roleplay in the 1st instance...so I can rp! and hence share information vital to the Party progress. YOU as Players will shape the game to suit your chcts and playing style, only the final outcome is fixed. So I encourage you to find your best personae and bring it to life in this challenging, fun, adventure.
