About the adventure

A week ago, each of you recieved a message from famed criminal mastermind Valerius Nightshade commissioning you for the heist of your lifetime. You must steal the "Heart of Ice," a large magical diamond, from a noblewoman in the North Ward. Now, Valerius has called you to a secret room under the Grinning Lion Tavern to finalize the details. Tonight, you will make your way secretly to the villa, find a way into the villa, bypass the security on the tower elevator, open the vault, and escape with your prize. However, be on alert. One among you is harboring a deep secret, one that could very well put them at odds with the rest of the group.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Microphone Required. Please create free Discord and Roll20 accounts. Please also join the Discord prior to game time. If you need help with character creation, please reach out to me. While I can answer some questions during the game, I also request players be familiar with their characters.

What DM Lost brings to the table

Roll20: I will provide Roll20 maps and tokens to create an immersive environment. Discord: There will be a Discord server available to ask questions, communicate party composition, and use for voice chat during the game. 3rd Party Modules: I have purchased modules to pull unusual enemies, magic items, and NPCs from to keep experienced players on their toes. Premade Characters: Premade characters are available upon request.

Homebrew rules

Flashback: Your character had a week to prepare for this heist. This will be represented in the form of "flashbacks." Each player character may have one "flashback" in which they recall a part of their preparation they did specifically for a challenge in front of them. The most typical use for this would be to automatically succeed at a skill check, but be creative with how you use it! The only limitations are that you cannot have made use of information you could not have reasonably had before the heist in your preparation, you cannot change established events, and you cannot use a flashback to succeed after failing a skill check. Alternative Objective: If you are selected as the player with a secret, you are to keep your secret as long as is reasonable to do so and you are to earnestly attempt to fulfill the objective related to your secret as long as it remains viable to do so. If your secret allows, your secondary objective is still to bring the Heart of Ice to Valerius.

Safety

How DM Lost creates a safe table

I employ a few safety measures to ensure the table stays healthy and fun for both myself and players. First of all, I will be using X and N cards: at any time, any player can message me with an X to indicate immediate discomfort with the current scene or N to indicate anticipated discomfort with the current story direction. Either way, I will intervene to push or rewrite the story to be more comfortable for everyone. Additionally, I do have an open door policy: if you need to take a 5-10 minute break, you may do so at any time. I will plan on taking a 10 minute break some time in the third hour of the session as well. Finally, I will end each session with a check-in and time for feedback.
