About the adventure
Out in the reaches of Wildspace, a new terror churns. Forces seeking to bring the whole system to heel are fast encroaching, and few know of their machinations. The lives of trillions are at stake, and through some divinity (or lack thereof), someone thought that the saviors of this spacetime should be you and your lot. This adventure will introduce players to the exciting world of Spelljammer, with the mechanical backbone of D&D5e. For the crew that seeks to man this vessel, you should expect difficult decisions, grandiose tales of glory, and horrors beyond terrestrial reason. The crew will learn how to pilot their very own Spelljammer spacecraft and even maintain such a vessel; in addition, they stand to make inordinate sums of money by thwarting this threat. Who better to receive the systems spoils than the folks who saved it..?

About me
Salutations! I am a 20-something mid-western creative (how quirky) hoping to inspire souls and hearts through storytelling and self-discovery. Roleplaying and getting into character were paramount to my Slip'n'Slide (headfirst) into a TTRPG rabbit hole; I adore creating interpersonal narratives between characters, both played and non-played. All that being said: I am an avid purveyor of drama and a lover of horror! Both will be bountiful at this table.

Creating your character
Characters start at level 5, using the 2014 5th Edition ruleset. Any official or partnered content on D&D Beyond (with the exceptions of: Free League, 1985 Games, and the Minecraft/Rick and Morty partnerships) is fair game. Run any homebrew you have by me first, I’m pretty lenient on most things. Point buy or standard array for stats, please. If you have a RP/in-character reason for a manual stat, we can talk about it! Every character begins with one uncommon magic item. HP will be averaged.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will have a session zero (which will be free) to go over necessary links and preparatory materials. In short, players will need access to: D&D Beyond (basic account is free) Roll20 (basic account is free) Discord (basic account is free)
What Kilgannon brings to the table
I will provide ambience/encounter music via a bot in a Discord voice call! I do my best with voice work, but I am an amateur and flub accents from time to time. Combat at my table is violent, bloody, and over-the-top. Subtlety is not my strong suit. You will receive very detailed descriptions of conflict.
Homebrew rules
Potion Consumption, Drinking or administering a potion of any kind is a bonus action. Critical Hits, Perkins crits! For the uninitiated, this means you take the maximum value of your damage die (for example, an 8 on a d8), roll that damage die, then add any relevant modifiers. Tension Moments, When attempting an exceedingly risky or bold maneuver, be it physical or social, I will ask you: Heads or Tails? Call it correctly and be massively rewarded. Call it incorrectly and... well, I hope you brought diamond dust. You may use Inspiration or Luck Points to choose the other option. Silvery Barbs, This spell has been a source of annoyance for many a GM, and not without good reason. I am making the following modifications to the spell: You may only use the spell to impact another creatures roll if you were the one who affected it in the first place. Essentially, you cannot cast the spell in response to someone else affecting the target. The spell has a material cost each time it is used: 2 silver pieces each cast. This spell cannot be modified via the Subtle Spell metamagic feature. Ammunition Tracking, I don't ask that you keep track of ammunition for personal weapons, like bows or guns, but I will be monitoring ship ammunitions.

How Kilgannon creates a safe table
I will set up an anonymous Lines and Veils document that I will share with the group once I receive everyone's information. Aftercare is something I take very seriously, especially in the wake of a PC dying. Emotions are important, and if an imaginary character passing on makes you feel something, you shouldn't shy away from it. Embrace it. I'm always here to support my players and their feelings. If, at any time, you need to change the subject mid game or need me to be less descriptive about something, DM me an "X". The subject will drop immediately and we will pivot.
