About the adventure

Orlane is a maze of locked doors, whispered prayers, and terrorized citizens. Trade has been wiped out, family members disappear in the dead of the night, while others come back without recognizing their own loved ones! What has taken hold of the village? You and your group of adventurers will have to investigate the mysterious happenings, fight terrifying monsters, and become the heroes that you have always wanted to be! Adapted from the 1982 classic campaign Against the Cult of the Reptile God, this setting is ideal for both beginning and experienced players to Dungeons and Dragons, using the 5th edition rules for 2024. It has a little bit of every element of Table Top Roleplaying Games - exciting combat, fun roleplay, and perplexing puzzles for you to uncover!

Character creation

Creating your character

You will be starting at Level 1 for this campaign, you can create a character in whichever manner you would like but will be put into FoundryVTT within the session 0. We will be using the D&D 5e 2024 rules - the current published books are all approved. If you have a homebrew you want to run, please be sure to send it to me prior to session 0 so I can make sure it fits the campaign. You are welcome to play any species from the core books. You can use this Heroic Array to create a character: 17, 14, 14, 12, 10, 8. The main quest of the campaign is that you are taking up a contract with the local Merchant's Guild to find Ulwan Glenleaf. Here are some additional motivations if you want to add some background to your character: - Searching for a loved one that you lost contact from. You received a group of letters from them that had noted some strange happenings, but the letters have gone silent since. - A mysterious thieves guild has set up shop in Orlane and has been getting involved in the town’s underbelly - which you’ve been tasked to resolve. - The local duke needs supplies and foodstuffs coming out of Orlane to fuel his troops and you, a veteran of his forces, are tasked with helping. Here is a Campaign Handout with some additional information to help you in character creation: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1B7qwqzs_uPdB3x_tCIjBHLFdgOcVGFJ1Sk6Hld5dtB4/edit?tab=t.0

The current party

We will be using milestone leveling for character advancement. Feel free to play whichever class you want as I can mold the campaign around your choices!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I will be using the D&D 5e 2024 ruleset. You are welcome to use the character creator on my Foundry instance or any other option that works for you. Please have Discord installed with an account to access my provided Discord server for the needed chat room. You will need a microphone, mouse, and keyboard as well as a computer to access the software on. Webcams are optional. We will be using FoundryVTT for exploring maps and tracking battles.

What Mark - Cloak of Coaching brings to the table

I have the D&D 5e 2024 sourcebook on my Foundry virtual table top so no need to bring your own book. I like to mix in for each session: - Plenty of comedic and serious role play! - A handful of dungeon delving and puzzles! - A strong helping of engaging and tactical combat! - And most importantly, a relaxed and fun environment for you to enjoy! And the Session 0 will be free!

Homebrew rules

Some general homebrew rules that I use, and will be explained in our Session 0: - When leveling up and rolling for health, if you roll lower than average you can take the average instead. i.e. you roll a d8, you can take a 4 if you rolled a 2. - Using potions is a bonus action. - I only track gold coins for general world payment.
