About the adventure
"You receive a message that a vengeful frost giant is on a rampage in the frozen wilds of the North, can you deal with the giant and uncover a chilling secret that could change the North forever." âïž DDAL05-05 â A Dish Best Served Cold A storm is brewing in the icy reaches of the North. Frost giants, driven by ambition and old grudges, have been raiding settlements and trade routes with brutal efficiency. But this time, something is differentâsomething personal. The Order of the Gauntlet has uncovered a lead on a frost giant who has made things very personal, and they need skilled adventurers to travel into the treacherous North and deal with the threat before it grows out of control. Will you brave the frigid wilds, confront a deadly enemy, and uncover the truth behind their wrath? Justice, vengeance, and ancient rivalries collide in this pulse-pounding expedition. đșïž What to Expect: Dangerous combat Exploration in the snowy wilds of the North Self-contained one-shot adventure using 2024 5e D&D rules (no prior experience needed!) Each game lasts about 3â4 hours and is beginner-friendly Bring your own AL-legal character (Tier 2: levels 5-10), or choose from pregenerated heroes Adventure League is just like regular DnD but allows you to move your character from one game to another (and keep your stuff!).

About me
I have been playing D&D on and off since the early 80's. Though I am newer to running games on Startplaying, I have lots experience running games both in-person and online including multi-year campaigns, games at large gaming conventions, and an active West Marches campaign in my own online sandbox world. I run a player-driven story-centered game with technical combats. I have a Roll20 pro account (over 10,000 hours logged) and use all the tools like dynamic lighting to improve our game. I use DnD Beyond for character creation so my players have access to all the 2024 source books and many of the important 2014 books that support the new rules (Tasha's, Sword Coast, Xanathars, Eberron, Monsters of the Multiverse, Fizbans Dragons, Bigsby's Giants). I like to make my own maps, a passion of mine. I use Discord for a gathering place and voice channel. You can expect dynamic ambiance music to support the game.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will use: Roll20 (account is free) for the VTT, this is where the battlemaps will be, I will use "dynamic lighting" where you will see what your character sees to better simulate the dark environments. DnD Beyond (account is free) - this is where you will make and keep your character sheet. You will have access to all the new 2024 books and a bunch of older 5e stuff too! Discord to communicate (account is free), I have all info posted here to make your experience fun and easy. Voice only, no video - make sure you have a good mic, free of background noise, headphones are encouraged to minimize sound bleeding.
What DM Sean brings to the table
I will bring my passion to play DnD, my decades of experience as a Dungeon Master, my many many hours of experience using these online tools, my willingness to work with new players and go at their speed to help them get the hang of it, a bunch of "in-character" NPC's with voices, and some custom map artwork that I like to make.

How DM Sean creates a safe table
We will use the X, N, and O cards on Roll20. If at any point the story goes to a place you feel uncomfortable, click the card and we will stop and move to a place where everyone is enjoying the game. For the most part, my games will be the equivalent of a Marvel movie in terms of violence, relationships, and dark social scenes. PG-13 friendly. Here are the established lines for my games, if you have others please reach out to me before game time so I can set the expectation for the table. Lines - Sexual content, especially violence. (Line) - Torture and other acts of blatant cruelty/sadism. (Line) - Negatively impacting another playerâs character without their consent. Rules lawyering against other players included. (Line) - Gratuitous depictions of violence and/or gore. (Line) - Racism, bigotry, etc. Both fantastic and real. (Line) - Romance, or anything else that hogs the spotlight. (Line)
