About the adventure
You set sail on an exploratory trade mission from the English colonies in America, bound for China, following a course around Cape Horn, then striking out across the Pacific, island hopping along the way. After months of sailing south around the Cape and then West into the Pacific, in a night of particularly bad storms, your ship ran aground on a reef, causing it to break up. You grabbed onto a piece of drifting wood and clung for dear life. Surprisingly, you survived, washing up on the shore of an unknown, uncharted island. You've got nothing but the clothes on your back and your raw wits to survive. Play by post on Discord (play whenever you have time), this game will test your creativity as you strive to survive in a jungle wilderness. We will use my homebrew, rules-light system, Kismet for anything where failure is an option, but most of the game will be based on your ability to roleplay your way out of a situation. Multiple players may be on the island, and teaming up will make survival easier, but you'll start out completely alone. Three days without water, two weeks without food, or dropping to zero on one of your properties will result in character death; character death is always around the corner!

About me
My name is Tommy and I love introducing players to new games and helping players feel more confident in their roleplaying! I cut my teeth on 3.5e in 2007, moved to Pathfinder 1e, then headed over to 5e before expanding my gaming consciousness to include Draw Steel, Traveller, Fate, and my own, homebrewed, rules super-light game, Kismet.

Creating your character
Character creation in Kismet is super easy; you don't even need a character sheet, just a piece of paper to jot down notes. Come prepared with a character concept. This will be an Age of Sail homebrew setting, so anything that would make sense for a 17th-18th century sailor (or passenger) will fit here.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need to join the Discord server for this game. I will send the invite link once you sign up.
What Sage Tommy brings to the table
The GM will post at minimum once per week, but will always try to respond to your posts within 24 hours.
Homebrew rules
Kismet is an entirely homebrewed, rules-light system. The core mechanic is that your character has three properties: physical, mental, and social, each of which starts as a d6. You can adjust this during character creation by bumping one property up to a d8 and another down to a d4. That's it! Skills are made up as we go along and give either a d6 or a d4. Damage is tracked by decrementing the affected property's die. When a player tries to do something in the story, if there is any chance of an interesting failure, the player should roll a test by creating a dice pool. The pool should always include one of the base property dice and can include skill dice.
