The Playwrights Sorrow: A Theatrical Horror Mystery
In the rain soaked streets of Lliondell, your investigative team hunts for a lost actor and will get lost in the script as its lines twist and tangle.
About the adventure
You will be playing as part of an adventuring party, called to the aid of the director, composer and playwright Giovanni Campagnone who's lead actor has gone missing only a scant few days before the performance! Delve into the city of Lliondell and find much more than you bargained for. Untangle the knotted and crossed lines that connect the city and come alive under the pen driven by the Playwrights Sorrow. The Playwrights Sorrow is a short campaign played across four sessions. It is a horror and mystery campaign with a focus on roleplaying. You will be playing a level 5 fifth edition D&D character with some experience with investigations, finding and apprehending people.

About me
Hey there! I'm Lucas and I've been running games since 2012 when I ran my first D&D 3.5e game. It was hilarious and clunky but I fell in love with it. Since then I have expanded my repertoire of games with Traveller, 4th and 5th editions of D&D, Savage Worlds, Masks, Call of Cthulhu and many more. I'm a DM local to Monterey Bay and I run games with an emphasis on role-play and character interaction. I'm a former improv comedian and I love getting to roll with my players and dive into what makes their characters tick. I run games online or in person, so I hope you join me and we can tell some amazing stories together!"

I've now been in a couple of games run by Lucas (including an ongoing campaign), and I can safely say I would recommend his games in a heartbeat. Lucas builds worlds that feel lived in and real, and weaves intricate storylines that are a joy to explore. He balances the structure of the game's rules with flexibility for player creativity, all without ever breaking the integrity of the world. I can't say enough good things, so I'll leave this review here: he has always been incredibly kind and inclusive, and makes it so much fun to be a player at his table. I always look forward to the campaign's sessions - - they're truly a highlight of their weeks.
I accidentally used my Google and Facebook to make two accounts, so I will leave another review! Lucas is so great at crafting unique and interesting stories and challenges while adapting to the playstyle of the PCs. I definitely double-check every so often to see what new campaigns he drops!
Built and sustained a seven year long odyssey across several levels of 3.5 with multiple players, giving each and every one of us a chance to help effect the world we were trying to save. On top of being fun to play with, fair with rules, and open to working with players, it was an amazing time.
Lucas is an incredible storyteller. On top of being able to set a very intriguing plot and fill it with interesting characters, the twists, turns, and storybeats were all so on point. I was on the edge of my seat most of the time and was very happy with how player actions and ideas really mattered. It was a good balance of being tailored for within a certain time limit while also allowing us the freedom to shape things as we wanted. The combat encounter was also crafted in a way to make it very unique and interesting. Overall, just a swell guy and very professional.
This guy ran a Star Wars campaign that got me into tabletop gaming as a whole. He found a way to make my silly character concept work and become a major player in the story, helped me understand how to build my character and did splendid RP as a myriad of different characters throughout the campaign. You’d be hard-pressed to find a DM more accommodating, kind, humorous and knowledgable than him.
Character creation
Creating your character
You will have the option to make your own character before the first session or to use one of the pregenerated characters I provide. If you want to bring a character, I would ask that you make them in roll20. Your characters will be Seasoned characters with standard starting funds. I encourage you to create a character who will be able to engage in a horror mystery with limited combat (perhaps save the barbarian for another game). If you are completely new to Savage Worlds, please send me a message and we can meet half an hour before the first session start time to talk a bit about characters and how the game works.

How Lucas creates a safe table
I have an open door policy regarding comfort and content issues. You are free to message me privately during game if any subject arises that you are not comfortable with and I will always move past the problematic subject, no questions asked. During the game there is a 5 minute break at the 2 hour mark where I like to check in with players and make sure everyone is doing alright.
