About the adventure

This game is an intro to the system of Daggerheart, split into two sessions. In the first session, you'll learn how to fill out a character sheet for characters up to level 3, and in the second session you'll play as that character for a quick one shot that will teach you the flow of the game! Ask questions, make friends, break the system, that's what these sessions are for! NOTE: This is not a SINGULAR SESSION, it is TWO SESSIONS at $25/each, on two consecutive Thursdays/Sundays! The adventure in the second session will be a light-hearted, high fantasy adventuree scenario split between roleplay, mystery, and combat! You will have a chance to see the pillars of play and help me improve my explanation of the system as we play it!

About me

Hey hi! My name is Lexi, otherwise known as @blackgirlmage on Twitter, Hive, and Twitch! I'm a Professional Game Master, streamer, writer, and storyteller who loves running homebrew games and modules with homebrew twists on them! I love improv with players and creating an exciting, unpredictable, and unforgettable games from the modules we all know and love! I love exploring the parts of TTRPG's that make me (and players most compatible with my playstyle) passionate! Such as roleplaying, combat, and character-focused campaigning, focused on taking the colonialism out of standard high fantasy adventure. If you want to play in games that take your character from the world they know and launch them into deep depths of story, from dramatic to absolutely comedic-- you'll want to join me!

Character creation

Creating your character

Your characters will be built in our first session, over the course of two hours you'll be able to build out your own level 3 Daggerheart character. If you've played D&D or other class-based systems, come with concepts of classes you enjoy playing! Otherwise just bring the ideas of the kind of low-level adventurer you'd like to play! We won't be referring to anything outside of the core book, and in-depth explanations will be provided by me during our session so even more experienced players can ask questions! (If you have a character you want to re-use, please send me the idea ahead of time and I can determine whether or not the character can be brought to the table. I retain the ability to accept or reject this, but will work with you to accommodate any circumstances where a character doesn't fit.)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a mic, webcams are highly encouraged but not necessary! We'll be playing over Zoom/Discord and using a VTT for our second session! If you'd like to read over the rules beforehand, they're available for free over here on DH's website! https://daggerheart.org/rules Otherwise, you just need discord and the ability to join our gaming group once you're in!

What Lexi brings to the table

I will bring the information, the character sheets, and the GM brain needed to bounce ideas off of for the first session. For the second session I'll bring the silly voices, the interesting setting, mysterious NPC's, ambient music! As long as you bring your sense of adventure we're bound to have some fun! I tend to use Rule of Cool but will lean towards rules as written for things that require ruling. This is so you as a player get used to what is in the base game, and also get clarity on the creative space Daggerheart *does* give you to create awesome character interactions! I also tend to lean more comedic, coming from an inmprov background, and I do voices. A LOT. Of VOICES.

Safety

How Lexi creates a safe table

Our first session we'll go over many things like introductions, player experience, things we want from the genre/game, and lines and veils. I use an anonymous Lines and Veils sheet to determine group Lines/Veils that we will carry throughout the game, and will present the usage of how X/N/O systems! I also will present the usage of Rescripting, which gives you the power to rewrite any detail of your choices/my description if something comes up during the game, allowing for improvisational safety as the game goes on. I will read off the expected Content for the adventure and check against our lines and veils. After the game, I'll send out a Stars and Wishes form for each player to fill out!
