About the adventure
Detroit’s reality is blistering under a metaphysical storm. A living wound in the Tapestry distorts consensus, pulls spirits into the streets, and feeds rival factions with dangerous opportunities. Your cabal stands at the eye—part detectives, part philosophers, part miracle-workers—deciding what survives when the world decides what’s “real.” This chronicle is urban occult mystery + high-stakes character drama. You’ll chase omens, bargain with spirits, crack Technocratic surveillance, and confront spiritual rot while wrestling with Paradox and the weight of choice. You are not passengers—your beliefs, your Paradigms and Practices, and the Instruments you trust change the story. Playstyle: roleplay-forward, investigation-heavy, and cinematic “theater of the mind.” We lean on consensual Mind magic (no PC mind-control without player consent), coincidental > vulgar whenever we can, and fail-forward pacing that keeps the mystery moving. New to Mage? I’ll teach as we go. Character creation is collaborative and personal. We’ll tie your concept to Detroit—Districts, communities, and supernatural politics—so your choices generate hooks (allies, rivals, debts). Expect regular recaps, session summaries, and “Previously on…” beats to keep late-night brains fresh.

About me
🎲 “Hold on, let me roll Persuasion first… success!” Hello, I’m Tyler — a storyteller, designer, and lifelong gamer with decades of experience behind the screen. My players describe me as Immersive, Supportive, and Masterful. I’ve guided hundreds of players through unforgettable games at conventions, on streams and podcasts, and in home campaigns across North and South America. I’ve collaborated with publishers like Onyx Path, Free League, Chaosium, and Helmgast, and I’m also a published writer and designer with credits in both indie and professional TTRPG projects. Whether it’s your first session or your hundredth, my goal is always the same: create a safe, inclusive space where your story matters. I invite you to explore my reviews and join a game to see why so many players return to my tables again and again.

Creating your character
We’ll build together before your first session. We’ll lock in Paradigm, Practice, and Instruments and connect your concept to Detroit’s people and places. I’ll help you slot into the cabal and match XP so you start competent and relevant to ongoing plots. No rules knowledge required. Expectations: Tradition or Disparate Alliance-leaning PCs are the default, Orphans welcome; Technocracy/Nephandi/Marauders are NPC-only.
The cabal is roleplay-driven and collaborative, with members who thrive on character interaction and shared mystery. We are looking for players who want to lean into the strangeness of Mage, who enjoy deep storylines and philosophical challenges, and who feel at home in a late-night game that runs on creativity, kindness, and a willingness to dream.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You only need a microphone and a desire to tell a story together. Once you join, I will send you the link to the Discord server and our Foundry VTT space. Prior to your first session we will walk through the character process, and make sure you are ready to go.
What Tyler brings to the table
You can expect a game steeped in atmosphere. I will use soundscapes and ambient music to deepen the mood. After each session you will receive a recap so you can always return to the story fresh, even if real life has been busy between games. At the start of each new session we will revisit “Previously on…” moments to ground everyone in the unfolding mystery, which is especially important for late-night play when heads may be foggier than usual. City history and NPC documents available.
Homebrew rules
This table runs on collaboration. Narration always comes before dice. When magic aligns with your paradigm and practice, we lean into story before mechanics. Paradox manifests as strange consequences woven into the story, rather than as simple numbers or damage. Mind magic is always consent-based; your choices will never be overridden. Failures drive the story forward rather than bringing it to a halt. Experience is given for discoveries, milestones, and moments of character spotlight. Above all, this is a game about choice, story, and meaning. I have a custom initial character creation process that we will go over once you join the game.

How Tyler creates a safe table
Your safety and comfort are my highest priority. Before play begins, I will send you a short and anonymous form to gather your lines and veils. During play we will use digital X, N, and O cards to make sure everyone can communicate clearly in the moment. This is a late-night chronicle, and we will honor the fact that late hours can bring vulnerability as well as creativity.
