About the adventure

** As the 39th century comes to a close turmoil has gripped the lands of Linaris. Though these lands have weathered untold catastrophe since the gods shaped them, none have been quite like this. In the coffee houses of the Carpathi federation of crowns an idea has spread, that liberty is the right of every sentient person who draws breath. No gods, No kings, No masters. For obvious reasons this has made the gods, kings and masters wary. Through severe force they tried to stamp it out in it's infancy but they could not contain an idea like this. First spreading to the warring states of the Dybakki kingdom via wandering philosophers, then across the southern trade republics on the rim of the Makr desert to great Carsanad and beyond the void sea to the newly discovered empires of the east. Now the people of the Ofserine empire have risen up against the immortal emperor and his court. Blood flows in the streets and the rulers of the world fear it will flood their doorsteps. The ever opportunistic Marcher lords & Goblin princedoms push to take territory during the chaos and in the west a great fleet is being assembled to put down the peasant empire before it spreads. ** - Napoleonic era setting for campaign with high magic, political intrigue and a theme of old vs new. -Homebrew setting with seven years of background lore and two long term campaigns run in the setting that make it feel alive. - ** Sample game hooks -Be soldiers fighting for liberty on the eastern front trying to rebuild your shattered forces after an ambush. -Be swashbuckling pirates running blockades to support Island rebellions in a race against time. -Be members of the clergy looking into the mysterious dissapearence of stars in the nights sky. -Be nobles in the courts of the west playing a delicate balancing act as the coalition fleets assemble. ** If you have any questions about the setting that you want to check before you commit to a game please feel free to DM me! always a pleasure to lore dump about my little imaginary world.

About me

Hi There, My name is Ben and I've been a DM of 5e Dungeons and Dragons for seven years. I've run a continous homebrew campaign both online and in person for all seven of those seven years and have been running a second in-person game in the same setting for the last two years. I have run a few official DND modules both as one shots and longer form campaigns of 8-10 sessions. I'm a good all-rounder DM who emphasises storytelling and roleplaying but I love a good crunchy combat session. I have been a lifelong student of history and try to incorporate world cultures and religions into my worlds as respectfully as possible to ensure my games don't just rely on old western fantasy tropes of knights and castles (but i still love these with all my heart). I have a wheelhouse of silly voices that i use far too regularly but I swear they took a lot of practice to get right. I believe strongly in a good session 0 to establish both important boundaries for players and to find out what kind of game/party we want to play with. I have a lot of experience bringing newcomers into 5e as well as playing with veteran rules lawyers and have always found a way to ensure that the party gets to play their unique story in a way that everyone at the table can enjoy. The major take away is that I have played far too much DND in my life and want to share that with as many people as possible!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You should have the following in order to join the game: - A Roll20 account. - A DNDbeyond account. - A Discord Account. - A working Microphone. - A working Camera

What Ben brings to the table

-Good mix of combat and roleplay to get the full dnd experience -varied combat with tactical enemies -intrigue and mystery to hook the players into the world instead of having arbitrary adventure hooks. -fun voices and detailed descriptions of npcs to help you feel like you're in the world. -Provide room for the each player to tell their own story in the world. -a homebrew world seven years in the making with interlocking histories, some based loosely on real world historys and some from organically grown fantasy ideas.

Homebrew rules

I do prioritise creating a safe environment for everyone to have fun in certain topics will never be touched on: Sexual assault of any kind, homophobia or sexism. Additionally as part of the session prep you'll be asked to fill out a consent form to establish lines and veils. The most important thing about the game is to enjoy it and if one of us isn't on the same page then none of us can have fun!

How Ben creates a safe table

Once accepted into the game I will send out a copy of a content consent form to check what topics are no-go's for any player. During the session 0 we will discuss what will and won't be included in the game among the party to ensure everyone is on the same. I will do this without mentioning names and will talk to players individually as needed to ensure everyone is ready for the adventure. If the players are overwhelmed and uncomfortable speaking up in the moment they can either DM two x's (xx) to me or put the same in the game chat/discord. During games if anything happens that a player is uncomfortable with either from a description of mine or from a player to player interaction I will step in immediately, call for a brief break and discuss with the affected to make sure they are okay to continue. If any players attempt to make me or another player uncomfortable purposefully and repeatedly they will be removed from the game without a refund. If we cover any heavy themes that a player is unprepared for I will be available to discuss after the session is complete to check and see if players are happy to continue with the campaign or wish to step out. In the end the point of the game is that we all have a fun adventure together, clear communication is the best way to make sure we achieve it!
