About the adventure

What separates this game from the hundreds of others? • Open rolls, always: no fudging, no safety rails. The dice giveth and the dice taketh away. • Party is currently Level 10: skip the tutorial levels and play with the real toys. • Territory ownership & world impact; the party claims land, builds it, defends it, and changes the map. • Bountiful magical items: heroic deeds yield heroic mountains of treasure. • Experienced DM: Suffering since 1989, starting with the Rules Cyclopedia. • Table fit matters: new applicants are interviewed before their first session to ensure a good fit for the group. • One-on-one character creation time with the DM: ensure your character has real roots, goals, and reasons to be here. Party currently consists of a Dragonborn Paladin of Vengeance, an Elf Druid of Wildfire, a Kobold Arcane Trickster, and a Gnome Artificer Battle Smith. The current long-term quest of the party is to gather the materials and expertise to craft an elemental gem that could free the party’s paladin from a curse. The accomplishments of the party include: • Exposed a pretender to a duchy, rescued the true noble from their goblinoid captors, and been highly rewarded for it. • Due to a bit too much alcohol, agreed to a task of collecting a debt from a dealer of magical goods. Through clever negotiation and empathy, they resolved the task without violence and made friends all around. • Investigated a temple of fire cultists while in search for an elemental crystal. They wound up joining and reforming the cult into a tax-paying political special interest group. • Searched an ancient ruin for a fabled treasure horde, and emerged battered, bruised, and blinged out in a Scrooge McDuck worth of treasure. • Worked with contractors and experts to develop their bestowed lands, choosing who they want to bring in and what purpose will be served. • Obtained hirelings that they’ve invested in training and equipping to aid their future endeavors. • Currently in desert ruins searching for the alleged lair of a blue dragon that may possess one of the elemental crystals they seek. • Slaughtered the heck out of water cultists in ways that will confuse future archaeologists. • Inflicted at seventeen gray hairs on the DM, 8 on the head and 9 in the beard. About the world In the myth-scarred world of Vhalstaug, magic is wild, consequences are real, and player choices reshape the setting in lasting ways. This is a high-agency Dungeons & Dragons campaign for players who enjoy tactical combat, clear stakes, and seeing their decisions echoed back at them in the world. Combat is cinematic and efficient, exploration is rewarded, and the story advances because the party acts, not because the DM nudges it along. https://app.roll20.net/join/19549311/VGzJTg We play every sunday :-)

About me

Greetings, adventurers! I am your Dungeon Master, a seasoned veteran of the realms since 1989. With a legacy spanning across the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th editions of this wondrous game, I have honed my craft as a storyteller since 1990. My world is one of inclusivity, where every hero, regardless of background, finds a place at the table. In my realm, safety and respect are paramount, ensuring that each quest is not only thrilling but also a sanctuary for all who dare to embark on this epic journey. So, ready your dice, sharpen your wits, for in my hands, the tapestry of adventure awaits to be woven with your deeds and choices. Welcome to a realm where legends are born and destinies unfold! Here are some of the reasons why joining one of my paid games can provide a superior experience: As a paid DM, I have the incentive to show up prepared and provide an outstanding gaming experience week after week. Charging a small fee per person virtually eliminates postponed sessions and busted campaigns due to player no-shows. People who are willing to pay a modest fee tend to approach the game with a more mature attitude, and typically don't quit impulsively when something doesn't go their way. Material costs associated with playing in a high-quality game are included. Players don't need to make any additional purchases in order to participate. Everything is included. Access to all relevant sourcebooks is provided free of charge via my compendium sharing. I purchase additional materials, such as high-quality maps, to make your gaming experience even better. Again, there is no extra charge to you. If you want to finish the campaign you start, then play with me!

Character creation

Creating your character

I prefer to run a session zero. It is there that characters will be created. If you have one already that character will be reviewed then. We will also discuss what player and DM expectations are. Plus go over any player questions prior to starting.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Roll20 for now is my default. We can discuss other platforms during session zero. Also Webcam and mic needed. Bring your own dice or use the die roller in Roll20. When using your own dice we rely on the honor system. Please don't fudge rolls lol.

What Jeremy brings to the table

I will provide the game materials like maps and tokens etc. During session zero we'll figure out how characters look so I can make player tokens.

Homebrew rules

I use a modified critical hits rule where one of the damage die is maxed. I use a flanking rule that gives players advantage on attacks.

Equipment needed to play

Computer

Internet

Microphone
