About the adventure

Game style: 50% Roleplay, 40% Combat, 10% puzzles and the like “I’m sure you know Alaelamia has its criminal underbelly.” The dark eyed man at the bar growls. “It’s thieves guilds. It’s political intrigue and drug trade. It’s villains. What country doesn’t? Beneath all that, though…” The man takes a long swig of his drink. “There’s the real bastards. The ones that kill for the thrill or for money. Some are wanted by the law. Others are smart enough not to get caught. Still others who blackmail their rich employer to keep their identity safe. There will always be scoundrels, kid. Don’t get wrapped up in it if you know what’s good for you.” Join me for a neutral to evil campaign where you will be playing bounty hunters! Travel across Alaelamia, get paid for killing people and doing whatever gives the most gold. It’s not all violence and murder, though. Players will be asked to fill out backstory sheets to create complex bounty hunters with reasons to fight. Roleplay and combat will be the main focuses of this story, though player characters will get rewarded higher for kills without getting caught. If they can make it look like an accident, their clients will pay a pretty penny.

About me

Howdy! I'm Alex (he/him), a trans man from Georgia. I work as a ghost writer and commission author, which has allowed me years of experience in world-building and storytelling. My BFA is in Acting for Stage and Screen. I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons for over 12 years, with a general focus on D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder 1st Edition. These days, I tend to DM 5th Edition and Pathfinder, though I have finished two campaigns in other systems. I love writing, gardening, gaming, and group storytelling.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will use point buy for stats. Character sheets will be made on dndbeyond. I will inform players of how much gold/starting loot they receive before we start playing.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will play on Dndbeyond and Roll20 with voice call over discord. Webcams are encouraged but not required, with one exception. If a player requests to use IRL dice, I will need to watch them roll over a webcam.

What Alex brings to the table

I am a rule of cool, roleplay-leaning dungeon master. I went to college for acting and work as a ghost writer by trade, so the skills I’ve learned from those things often apply to my games. Player input is often an integral part of my campaign style and I incorporate player backstory heavily when doing session preparation.

Safety

How Alex creates a safe table

I ensure that my expectations are communicated clearly during a session zero. During this same session zero, I have my players fill out a limits chart so that I understand what they are comfortable with. Players are able to encouraged to message me privately during games to let me know if they’ve hit a boundary or need to step away. I also allow my players to play the game over the voice call text chat if they are not able to speak for certain periods of time.
