About the adventure

This game is for players that enjoy challenging combat, high-stake scenarios, and exploration into dangerous lands. This campaign is an adventure module from 3.5, redone for 5.5e/2024 D&D. Red Hand of Doom follows a group of adventurers who have entered the Elsir Vale, a thinly populated frontier region. The party discovers a massive hobgoblin horde that is fanatically devoted to the dark goddess Tiamat and led by the charismatic half-dragon warlord Azarr Kul. To stop the horde, players have to muster the inhabitants of the Vale, battle hobgoblins, giants, and dragons, and defeat an overwhelming enemy. THIS IS AN ONGOING CAMPAIGN. The party is still within the first chapter of the campaign, meaning you haven't missed much yet and all the important information will be given upon joining. All the current players were here from the first session and we are looking to fill the slot of a member that has just left the party.

About me

I've been playing D&D for over 8 years and DMing for about 6 years. I have DM'd for many different people over the years in multiple different settings and campaigns. My goal is for everyone at the table to enjoy participating in a collaborative group storytelling experience full of life, intrigue, challenging combat, and more. Even if I am running a premade adventure, I plan to make everyone get the spotlight and have their own personal stories and growth within the game world. If you have any questions or inquiries just message me and I'll get back to ya.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To prepare, message me on here with answers to the following questions; What kind of campaign are you looking for? What is your preferred split of combat/social interaction/exploration? Do you have any problems with anything written in this listing? Do you have any questions for me?

What Carson brings to the table

I provide a relaxed and encouraging environment, eager to see what my players can think up to solve the number of problems that come their way. I don't typically do voices but I try my best to give the players back the same energy they give me. I adapt my games to suit the players and their character.

Homebrew rules

I run the game loosely RAW. What this means is that I don't have any official homebrew rulings but may make some in the heat of the moment for things like rule of cool, RAI, or to simply allow for the game to run more easily. The only rule change added is when rolling for HP (if chosen) roll with advantage.

Safety

How Carson creates a safe table

I will individually be speaking to each player prior to the campaign to ask about their game preferences, as well as during session 0. My games do not go into the far extremes in a way that would be unexpected of a typical D&D game.
