The Broken Platoon | Original D&D 5e Campaign | One Seat Left!
Join an elite military unit to fight behind enemy lines in a desperate last-ditch effort to end the war!
About the adventure
Join an elite military platoon to fight behind enemy lines in a desperate last-ditch effort to end the war! Invading elves and their followers from accross the ocean have laid waste to the Western coast of your homeland of Therah, and their armies seem to keep coming, forcing the scattered nations, kingdoms, and tribes of Therah to unite against these strange fey-like invaders. You are your party are elite members of a military unit fighting back against these invaders, trapped behind enemy lines after a disastrous loss, with a slim hope of taking the war into your own hands and ending it for good. In this campaign, you’ll have the chance to: -Survive off the land as you travel under the noses of enemy troops. -Strike vital military targets and supply lines to hamper the Elven forces and perhaps gain some of their resources for yourselves. -Free prisoners of war to grow your platoon, gathering allies who will travel with you and join the fight. -Foment resistance and rebellion in occupied lands, and perhaps even in the Elven homeland itself. -Fight using guerilla tactics, setting ambushes and traps as you fight an enemy that far outnumbers you in epic battles across all sorts of terrain. -Use homebrew abilities granted to you by your rank and role within the platoon.

About me
I'm a writer and teacher from the US, now living in Spain. I've been GMing various TTRPGs for over 20 years. I love worldbuilding and crafting stories around my players' characters and the choices they make in-game. I make a special effort to make my games safe and inclusive spaces where we can tell immersive stories together.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Storytelling
World Builder
Creativity
A great DM who gives thier players alot of freedom in how things play out, they have a huge focus on world building with cultures and races and religions that become almost tolkien-esque in detail and care. If you want to play in a world that feels like people live in it then Nik is the DM for you.
Nik's world building skills are great and you'll be fascinated by amount environments. From varied civilisations, distinct cultures and species, He's also excellent at giving each character a unique voice, making them memorable and interesting. I would highly recommend playing with them!
He’s been possibly one of the best DM I’ve ever had, he’s made a world with new races that he has fully balanced and layed out and we can play as and the world is so expansive that it could seemingly take forever to explore it all and he’s also tailored in every characters story and backstory’s so that we feel truly in the game, I would recommend nik to everyone, new and experienced players alike
Nik is personally one of the top 2 DM's I've ever had from a dozen DMs. The thought and effort he put into world-building is impeccable. One of the great things I find in a DM is that the events they set up puts a sense of intrigue, mystery, and urgency, to keep the players interested so that they may come up with theories or plans on the upcoming events. If you have an NPC character associated with your PC and give Nik the freedom to do whatever, if there's a sense of mystery or something particularly unknown about them, he does something fun that connects with his world's lore. His effort includes the other PCs, so you are also intrigued by the other PCs lives and characteristics and not just the ongoing events.
So I've been playing a long time over 11 years now, and generally I can just play the game talk about it for a little bit with the group and just forget about the game until the next session. This is the first Gm to make me think about the choices and possible choices in a game throughout the week until the next session. He is really good on leaving off on cliffhangers where it makes you just want more. He is good to respond if you have clarifications on things and works with you whenever you want to see if something can work or not. All around Nik definitely has the drive and dedication to his games that is just on another level. Every session is very engaging and Heart throbbing making you just want to find out what could possibly be next. I highly recommend giving Nik a try if you want a amazing Story, Really good Role play sessions and Scary, but rewarding combat and just so much more.
Nik is a really creative and thorough worldbuilder! I've played several games with him as GM, some fantasy some sci-fi, and all were very memorable with plots and landscapes that encourage players to think out of the box. He clearly puts in a lot of prep time making intricate maps and many-layered NPCs for the party to interact with. Some of these games involved first-time roleplayers, and some involved all experienced players. The games also ranged in length from one-shots to many dozens of sessions over multiple years. He's very good at making a game that fits the players, their experience, and their interests.
Character creation
Creating your character
The characters will start at level 6, and will be created (or at least concieved) together in discord chat and during session 0 in Roll20, using the Point Buy system for attributes. Most official published D&D 5e (2014) content will be allowed in the game as player options, though there will be a set of recommended races/ancestries that have a more direct connection to the immediate setting. Third party options may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. For new players, I will happily walk them through the process, up to and including building a character for them myself based on a few questions I ask.
Nothing yet!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have a computer, a mic, and accounts on Roll20 and Discord. No dice or character sheets needed, as all will be handled digitally in roll20.

How Nik creates a safe table
I will send a survey to you that you can fill out in order for me to know your lines, veils, expectations, and interests before the session. We will discuss these things in session 0 as well, build your characters, and play an short opening session. Later sessions will start with a short chat, recap, and then we will get right into playing, with at least one 5-10 minute break. We will end the sessions with a small debriefing to check in on each other, talk about stars and wishes, and to plan what your characters want to do in the next session.
