Mercenaries in War | 5e + Kingdoms and Warfare
With a deed to a crumbling castle, followers to work the land, and soldiers to defend it, you set out to stake your claim in the wilderness ahead.
About the adventure
You are no fresh-faced adventurers. Hardened by past campaigns and bloody victories, your party begins at level 3. In a land where few promises last and fewer gifts come without strings, you’ve been granted the deed to a ruined castle deep in the untamed frontier. The stone walls may be broken, but the opportunity is real. As part of an established mercenary company, you command laborers to work the land and soldiers ready to defend it. Using rules from MCDM's Kingdoms and Warfare, your faction will rise or fall on the strength of its alliances and the sharpness of its steel. Enford, a cultivated region ruled by the formidable Countess, lies only a day’s ride away. Her courtiers smile in silk, but they play a game older and deadlier than war. Yet, power in the frontier is not won solely at the table of nobles. Much lies hidden in the deep woods and crumbling ruins beyond your borders. Ancient threats stir. Untapped magic lingers. Your party must venture into the wilderness as explorers, problem-solvers, and occasionally, executioners, taking on quests that no army can solve. Build your stronghold, command your forces, and shape the fate of your company. The wilds are lawless, the politics ruthless, and your rise to power anything but guaranteed.

Storytelling
This GM is both incredibly kind and wonderfully imaginative, creating an experience that is truly unparalleled. His storytelling captivates me, pulling me into the narrative with such intensity that I’m always on the edge of my seat during combat. Every encounter is thrilling, and the stakes always feel real. The world he has crafted is nothing short of mesmerizing, rich with detail and vibrant with life. I find myself constantly eager to explore every intricate corner of this world—every land, every city, and every sea. Each location feels unique and brimming with its own history and secrets. The lore that he has seamlessly woven into our adventures is astounding. It not only enriches the world but also makes our journey feel profoundly special and personal. The way he intertwines the lore with our experiences creates a tapestry that is both extraordinary and relatable. Each character, story arc, and plot twist is thoughtfully designed to draw us deeper into the world. It's an adventure that challenges and excites me, making every session a highlight of my week. Being part of this world makes me feel both special and integral to the unfolding narrative, while also reminding me of the beauty of being part of something greater than myself. It’s a truly magical experience, and I’m thrilled to continue exploring every detail and living out every adventure that awaits. This GM’s creativity and dedication are truly inspiring, making every moment of our journey unforgettable.
Adam is absolutely there for the players. He knows how to tell a good tale, is great at world building which helps with character immersion, and he wants the players to succeed. He seems like he has as much fun as we do when at the table, and knows how to reel everyone back in when we inevitably get side tracked. I haven't had a bad experience with him as the GM, with the obvious exception being my poor dice rolls(I'm looking at you back to back Nat 1's).
I have been playing DnD for over 10 years now and never have I played with a DM who let's you literally pick your own adventure. I've played with quite a few DMs in the past who want you to follow their set story and coax you where to go, but not this DM! We got to do whatever we wanted and wrote and made the most incredible world and made it seem legit! Combat was always a blast and we went on for over 2 years with our one campaign. I couldn't recommend this DM more if you wanted a very thought out and well put together campaign who literally let's the player make their own adventure. 10/10
Adam is an excellent DM. He is patient and knowledgeable of the game, witch was helpful as I was learning how to play. He also good at improvising to compensate for the chaotic play stile of our group. (I.e. we completely changed our goals and abandoned our mission half way through without warning). Combat was always unique and challenging. Social encounters were fun and his characters have lively and consistent personalities. Adam provides a world and give you the freedom to do what ever you want in it. Whether you want to be a famous pirate or the ruler of a nation... or both, it is up to the players to make it happen.
