About the adventure

(Beginner Friendly, Session time and day are subject to change based on player needs.) Cannith is a city built on Guilds. The Five High Guilds run the overall operation of the city but the different districts and even streets are the domain of smaller guilds. Ranging in size from a small handful to several dozen or more. Nearly everything in this sprawling and diverse city is handled by a guild of some kind. Both the Mystical and Mechanical roam the streets of this sprawling city. A place where Fire Elementals might find employment in homes and taverns heating water on request. Where clockwork servants raise materials up for builders or stock for merchants. What guild will you join or create? The city of Cannith awaits you to seek your own path through its winding streets, ever reaching skyline and dark ruin laden depths.

About me

I like to design the game around what vibes best with the players and will build the plot around their interests. I'm quick with improv moments but still like to have an over all plot to things, making me more skilled at sandboxes than linear paths. You can expect a good mix of everything from absurd humor to visceral horror, occasionally in the same scene. Adventure and new companions await in my games. Come have a good time! Custom booking is available and the price subject to change based on what you're looking for!

Character creation

Creating your character

You don't have to create a character ahead of session 0 but will need one before the first session. Session 0 is also free. If you don't like the vibe of myself or the rest of the group no harm, no foul. Characters will start at lvl2, using either the 2014 or 2024 rules. I personally prefer and know the 2014 version better but don't mind either. We'll hold a session 0 and have a discord server for anything and everything Campaign related. I'll work with each player to build out their character. If you're a new player just let me know and I'll be happy to walk you through the process. Anything official is up for use. I don't mess with homebrew character options much. Character sheets will be hosted on roll20 but if you have a personal method, D&D beyond or a physical sheet, you can use that to track things. I'd just need the roll20 sheet and the personal method to match up.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A mic is required, but a camera isn't. Personal choice to use a camera or not. You'll need roll20 and discord accounts as well.

What Dungeon Keeper Andy brings to the table

A lush world over 10 years in the making! Full of detail and lore not just for Cannith city but the world around it as well. NPCs to love and loathe! I try to make npcs stand out with speech mannerisms, accents and a wide range of alignments. Each NPC with a speaking role (meaning anyone other than the inn keeper you're getting a room from and crossing guards at gates) each have a personality all their own. Music is usually played during sessions, general ambient tracks to fit the setting and/or situation. When running combat I like to make it a challenge but not overwhelming. Some monsters will play to the party's strengths while others will be included to prod at weaknesses. Combat is where I like to stick to rules the hardest but even then might bend on a few things here and there. Under no condition will sexual content be described or roleplayed.

Homebrew rules

Nearly all healing spells have double potency. Meaning Cure Wounds now does 2d8 and so on. (case by case basis, this does not apply to 2024 rules) Reroll 1s and 2s on hit die increases. If you roll a 2 twice in a row you've gotta keep it. If I as the DM cause something to happen in the story that is genuinely upsetting to you or just something you'd rather not have described/happen again just let me know and I'll make sure it doesn't come up again. Lay on Hands and drinking potions is a Bonus Action During a Short Rest, characters with a Prepared Spells list can change out Prepared spells with any other spell they have available of the same level. Spell Scrolls can be used by anyone. They are tools like any other. Stored Saves: At the start of each session all players roll 4d20. The results of those rolls are put onto a list. On occasion during the session the DM might consult that lit of rolls for hidden saves. These will only be for saves/checks that the player character otherwise wouldn't be aware of. An example as to what this is for: An NPC has slipped poison into a player character's food without their knowledge. I'll then roll 1d4 while looking at the list and picks one of the stored saves based on the d4 roll. Checks the PC's con save and if the PC succeeded, they'll never know the attempt was made. If they fail...well they'll know in the usual way. I also sometimes use stored saves if I can't decide on who to target with an attack/effect.
