About the adventure
What is supposed to be a simple quest from a local bard quickly entangles the adventurers in a high-stakes game of intrigue and politics by some of the most powerful factions of Waterdeep. Incredible rewards and treasures await you. Will you make your mark in the city, or cross the wrong organization and end up buried alongside the treasures of the dead? Eventually, the party may decide to take their fortune and use them to explore the incredible dungeon of the mad mage--Undermountain, and reach the heights of their power in the greatest dungeon of them all. The game emphasizes roleplaying and worldbuilding above other concerns in Dragon Heist, until you gain power and status and are able to plunge into Undermountain, whereupon roleplay remains important but the party's status as heroes is brought to bear against the dangerous forces lurking beneath the city. Expect quests throughout the city to continue all the way until the very end, as well as an overarching story concerning the powers-that-be in the city.

About me
Yooooooo I have been a DM for close to a decade, but in a roundabout way it took me a few years to find D&D. I rolled with a group that was too cool to play something as 'mainstream' as D&D. Sad to think I spent so long fiddling around in vague things like FATE to appease them! Now I've been my own DM for about five years, running things like Pathfinder 1e and D&D 5e in campaigns both prewritten and homebrewn. I've learned a lot of lessons, made a lot of mistakes, and I think I've come out the other side, if not a great DM like my players tell me, then an experienced one. You deserve my time and attention, much as I expect the same from my players in return. So why charge? I really put everything I have into my campaigns. I care about not only making them as good as they can be, but trying to make them as fun as they can be for you. I'm usually amenable to discussion on making a story that works for all of us. I want to provide sessions that are fun both as a roleplaying experience as a game. For a time, I was in this for the love of the game and to make it economically viable for me to just spend more time doing what I already love doing. That hasn't changed, but as I found myself dedicating more and more of my time to it, picking up more and more groups, I decided that for now, it's my full-time job. It's something I invest a lot of time in that players don't 'see' before the session time. It's time spent crafting custom encounter maps, reviewing and rebuilding adventures and jury-rigging the complex interactions of the virtual tabletop to run as smoothly as I can imagine with automation and user-friendly interfaces that work for you. I care about delivering on that.

Creating your character
Characters are created using point buy, at level 1. All Forgotten Realms legal books are allowed. Normal encumbrance is tracked. Session 0 will be used to establish any other possible house rules as a group decision. Peace/Twilight clerics are banned.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You need a Discord account and functioning microphone, as well as a desktop computer. You will need to join my Discord server.
What Prism DM brings to the table
I will provide enhanced maps over the book experience, many self made, and use voices and music to create atmosphere. I lean towards using the Rules as Written but am not totally immune to fun. Expect combat to be serious when encountered! I cultivate an experience that takes the narrative very seriously while still allowing for fun and funny moments as long as they do not break the 4th wall. I also use the powerful automation tools of Foundry VTT to make the experience as fluid as possible.
Homebrew rules
Though optional to the table, common house rules include: Flanking granting a +2 to hit bonus. Rolling insight and death saves in secret. Potions as a bonus action.

How Prism DM creates a safe table
Any subjects anyone is uncomfortable with can be submitted during session 0, publicly or privately. I generally do not allow deep exploration of sexual themes. I don't use formal versions of safety tools, per se, though if the group requests them I am happy to do so.
