Vaesen: Plague of the Unseen | Gothic Horror Investigation
Mysterious invisible creatures known as Vaesen wreak havoc in Mythic Scandinavia. Uncover the banishment ritual or face their wrath indefinitely.
About the adventure
In the Mythic North (an alternate 1800's Europe), mysterious invisible creatures known as Vaesen have started wreaking havoc throughout the continent. Most people can't see these supernatural beings, let alone believe that they pose a danger to civilization. But you know the truth. Having encountered one of these creatures in your past, you now have "the sight" and can see them in their true form. Each Vaesen can only be banished by performing a specific ritual. Will you and your fellow investigators be able to uncover the ritual and perform the rites before something terrible happens? Can you thwart the growing threat of Vaesen? Vaesen is a rules-lite, story-focused system that seamlessly integrates new and experienced players. Adventures are generally episodic in nature, but the Society's knowledge will grow and the headquarters will expand, providing resources to confront greater and greater threats. Join us for supernatural mystery!

Meet the Game Master
About me
I have over ten years of experience performing with improv on stage and have been playing and running TTRPGs since middle school. I have a deep and abiding love for improv and collective story making as well as game design, voice acting, and sharing the joy my geeky passions. I welcome players of all experience and love teaching new folks how to play. In my games, you’ll meet multidimensional NPCS with distinct voices and a world that changes in response to your character’s actions. Your backstory will be woven into the narrative as I customize the adventure to suit the characters’ journey. In classic campaigns, you will get the best of a time-tested module while experiencing a story that is uniquely your own. As a GM, I present the characters with difficult challenges while cheering on the players. You will join in a “writers’ room” style of play with collaborative lore building as well as delve into dramatic scenes where we play to find out what happens. I lean on the dice decide our fate so we can all be surprised by where the story takes us.

Dungeoneer80 is an excellent GM who will go above and beyond to make sure you have the best adventure of your life. His dedication to his craft truly draws you in via voices, impressive use of music/sound, and storytelling that will stick with you between sessions. 80 is incredibly patient, always willing to let his players try something silly and will abide by the rule of cool when it is appropriate. He will work with you individually on your character's story if you want, and will incorporate your ideas into the campaign when they fit. Honestly, one of the best GMs that I have had the pleasure of playing with over my years of tabletop experience. Highly recommend!
This has been an amazing online Experience, I first started DND in person with another crew & DM. Adrian has brought the game to life with his story, visuals, voice, sounds affects, maps and more. It has been over a year now and I'm having the best time!! The past two campaigns have been the best yet! He has taken my characters back ground story and vamped it so well into the rest of the campaign line where I end up on the edge of my seat and nervous sweating (in a good way of course lol) he really keeps the whole crew in mind and line and all to have an enjoyable time and make sure of it. Educated, funny, and organized. Please, I highly recommend Adrian!
I've never played before and Adrien helped me understand and get into the game in a very fun and engaging way. I wasn't sure if it was something I was going to like, but now I can't wait to play again! Update after a year of playing: Still loving it! We are on a new campaign and Adrien is customizing it fit our characters' back stories and making it super unique and fun!
I've played Monster of the Week with several Keepers on StartPlaying and 80 is my favorite so far. His monsters are creative and his mysteries are the right balance of fun and scary. I also think he does a good job of giving every character a chance to shine. Very glad I found this game.

Safety
How Dungeoneer80 creates a safe table
I intend for this to be a safe and enjoyable space to share and play. I have no tolerance for bullying, bigotry, or derision of any kind. Please join the game with an open mind, a gentle heart, and spirit of acceptance of others. Also please make use of the safety tools whenever you need and be generous with others when they use them. Prior to play - I will talk with new players to help identify sensitive topics and review the game's current Lines and Veils. I do my best to avoid triggers during the game, encourage use of the X card, and work to foster an open, non-judgemental space for discussion. During the Game - Open Door policy: Players can leave whenever they need to for self-care, including bio-breaks. - Breaks: For every hour or two of play, we will take a five-to-ten minute break. - X, N, and O Cards: If a line or veil is accidentally crossed, I will pause the game and adjust however we need to respect those boundaries. - Luxton Technique: If a line or veil is accidentally crossed, a player may, if they want, initiate a discussion about the boundary and express how they would like to proceed. I will talk with the group and adjust the game to accommodate the needs expressed by the player. Post-Game - Debriefing: I ask how people enjoyed the session. In this conversation I welcome any and all feedback. - Stars and Wishes: Each player is encouraged to offer a Stars (things they loved about the session) or Wish (things they would like to see in the future).
