About the adventure

After the slaying of the false light god, the cosmic balance has shifted. For the first time in 1,000 years, the evil of this realm has the chance to rise from the shadows and claim what should be theirs! Every lord of darkness needs eyes and fists to claim their kingdom, and in this campaign, the party will play as evil characters in a 5th Edition adventure. This campaign will take a party of 7th-level evil characters on an epic quest to conquer portions of the world and expand the Shadow King's realm of power. The first arc of this campaign will guide players through a 7-9 session adventure in a custom homebrew setting I’ve been playing in for nearly 20 years. The story begins with the party overtaking a neighboring barony, the first victim of the Shadow King.

Game style

West Marches

West Marches games are typically ran as “drop-in / drop-out” campaigns, where a pool of players hop into sessions as they are available or as sessions align with their schedules. These games focus on a player-led story and exploration, with each session acting as a self contained adventure, allowing for players to experience a variety of stories within an overarching campaign.

Sandbox / Open World

In "Sandbox" or "Open World" games, players are given a tremendous amount of freedom to pursue their stories without the restrictions of a more linear game style. Players are encouraged to explore and engage with the world, and find their own story as they do so. These games offer the players the opportunity to help drive the narrative, and allow for the story to evolve organically through the choices they make.

Party notes

We are building an evil west marches style conquest campaign. The current ranking guild members are: - Paladin level 9 - Druid level 9 - Monk level 9 - Bardlock level 9 - Rogue level 9 - Grim Beacon (custom caster class) level 9 You will be entered into the campaign as the next group of competent ranks to serve the Shadow King.

How to prepare

A microphone is required, camera is a bonus but not required. You also must have an ability to use Discord and Roll20 online. Additionally, I will provide a Player Document with links to setting and campaign information (not required reading just there for lore nerds). Finally, be ready to have fun!

What I provide

I provide 20 years of experience, a Pro Roll20 account, custom maps made using Inkarnate Pro, and a boosted Discord server that is managed by myself and other mods.

Gameplay details

Before the campaign I send out a Google Form that goes over consent, no goes, phobias, and aspects of the game you and enjoy/dislike. I also have an open door policy with any questions or concerns.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be done during a free Session Zero as we will be using a fair stat rolling method. Characters will 7th Level and are allowed to using any official 5th Edition D&D content (ask about 2024) and will be provided custom magical items at the beginning of the campaign. If you use DnDBeyond please download the Beyond20 extension so that you can link your sheet to our Roll20, otherwise character sheets will be created in roll20.
