About the adventure
Welcome Hellriders and Heroes, to the Fall of Elturel! Two years after the War of the Dragon Queen ravaged the Sword Coast, Elturgard and its capital, Elturel, have nearly recovered. Protected by the Hellriders and the light of their second sun, the Companion, the holy city has become a beacon for many seeking refuge. Your characters are residents of Elturel, and recently, you’ve begun to notice something strange in your city. In the shadows of the city cults wage war and conduct dark rituals. Undead and Demons roam the outskirts and underground, despite the Companion's protections. What could all this mean? Investigate Elturel's mysteries, face powerful adversaries, and travel the planes in a War-Machine from Hell! Can you save your city? Are you the hero Elturel needs? 📈 Adventure & Progression Levels 3–14, with expanded and enhanced content for Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus 💥 Tone Epic Fantasy meets Post-Apocalyptic, with a gritty undertone. 🛡️ GM Style I try to maintain a sense of danger while ensuring players feel epic ⚔️ Gameplay Heavy on roleplay and combat, with some mystery-solving (I can adjust for the groups preferences) 🪄 Character Creation 2014 and 2024 character creation rules allowed

Creating your character
📜 Character Options: Bring a character you've made or we can create one together during session 0. You can use either the 2014 or 2024 character creation rules, and any official source books. 🛠️ Assistance Available: I'm happy to help you craft your ideal character if you need anything. I also have pre-made characters if you would rather use or modify one of them. 🎲 Ability Score Rolls: If you're rolling for ability scores, we'll do that in Foundry during session 0. You can also choose Standard Array (with a small bonus) or a 32 point Point Buy. ⬆️ Homebrew: I use some homebrew enhancements to certain classes and subclasses, like the Ranger and Transmutation Wizard, making every choice feel rewarding and impactful. 🎨 Token Art: I can help create your token whenever a you join. I would prefer for you to find the art though (that’s the fun part!).
The game will be played weekly on Tuesdays. We will play on Discord, The Forge, and you can use D&DBeyond as well. You will need free accounts for any of these you are using. Current party (Level 6): - Hexblade Warlock - World Tree Barbarian - Abjuration Wizard - Eloquence Bard - Fighter/Death Cleric
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Webcam/Mic: I only request you must have a working mic. A webcam is not required, though you are free to use one if you would like. Free Accounts: You'll need a free account for Discord, FoundryVTT. Optionally DNDBeyond if you want to keep your character sheet there. Be Ready to Adventure: Come prepared to immerse yourself in the adventure, ready to collaborate with your fellow players and adapt to the twists and turns of our story for a fantastic experience!
What GM John brings to the table
Battlemaps, bad puns, and eight years of GM experience! 🎮 FoundryVTT Access: I use The Forge website for players to access the campaign on FoundryVTT. 🗂️ Player Resources: I will provide access to all player options. Once you join the campaign on The Forge, you'll be able to view or edit your character sheet and access available handouts anytime, even when I'm offline. 🗺️ Game Resources: I'll have handouts, art, tokens, and maps for the campaign, plus many custom creations to fill any gaps in and expand on the sourcebook. 🎶 Music/Soundscapes: I will always have music and soundscapes to enhance the atmosphere during sessions. 🎲 Digital Dice: Players can roll digitally in FoundryVTT, which I prefer for ease and transparency. I will always roll this way. If you prefer using physical dice, we’ll use the honor system, and I’ll trust you to be honest.

Safety
How GM John creates a safe table
Session 0: This should take between 30 minutes to an hour, and will happen before you start in the campaign. This will include character creation, backstory integration, and establishing any Lines and Veils. Breaks and Open Door Policy: Games will include a 10-minute break in the middle, but take breaks as needed, 4 hours is a long time. I just ask that you message me or the group letting us know. No PvP: I have a no Player on Player combat rule. This game is about cooperation in story telling and between players. This includes stealing from party members. Aftercare/Debriefing: To make sure everyone is happy with the session, I will set some time aside after each session to talk to the party as a group or one-on-one. If you want more of something, less of something, feel overlooked, or just want to talk about something that happened in the session (good or bad); please let me know. I just ask that we keep things civil.
