About the adventure
An anomaly eruption. An explosive tear in reality. And you don’t know what’s going on. You’re speeding down the road in a yellow autopod. There’s a roadblock in front of you. There are sirens chasing you. Two autocycles just popped up next to you. And you have no idea who they are. In your hands, a canister of pure alluvium. A glowing, pulsating, viscous liquid that is the very substance of the resonance field. Rare, unstable and vulnerable, it’s quantum instability in physical form. And you have no idea who you got it from. You better start getting some answers fast. It’s either that or you’re going to be dead. Or worse. — This is a playtest of Blades ‘68, a spiritual successor to Blades in the Dark. It’s a rough cut of new features and updates currently in progress for the upcoming release by Evil Hat games. It’s set in a world that’s very similar to the late 1960s. New tech, new shenanigans, new Blades!

About me
As with every profile, it's a work in progress. Most ttrpg folks have a dice kink. I have a systems kink. I have more books and systems than I'm ever going to be able to play, but I am damn sure gonna try. Here to run games I love and explore games that others do. Want me to run something particular? Let's have a conversation and figure it out.

Creating your character
Prior to our game session, I will be available to work with players to give them the opportunity to create characters. Pre-Gen characters will also be available for all Playbooks for players who are interested. We'll establish some of the other elements of the game, including the group's "Crew".
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Watch heist films. Play video games that allow you to do crime or face unimaginable darkness. For gameplay, we'll using discord and foundry for our game, so you'll need a couple of things in order to prepared. For discord: - A free discord account. - A working microphone. - headphones (recommended in case you're playing in an environment where others might hear the game). - a camera is recommended but not required. For Foundry (hosted at the Forge): - A free forge vtt account. - A compatible browser that works with forge vtt (Firefox is recommended).
What Johnnie brings to the table
200+ hours of experience running Blades and other Forged in the Dark games.. An eye for mature storytelling and a collaborative approach to build our story that fits the group at the table. I will have all of the game material accessible to the players. We’ll use Foundry as our VTT and discord for voice/video communication. This will be a narrative first game filled with story and combat. We'll play with the rule of cool, but won't ignore the rules either.

How Johnnie creates a safe table
Blades ‘68 is a game that gives you permission to be the villains in the story. How dark it gets can be up to the players. So we will discuss safety tools before our game session, set clear limits on where the story will not go and then do a check in after the game. In Discord, we’ll discuss the use safety tools with the following goals: - content warnings and what they mean for the game. - establish lines and veils document for things that are off limits - An X card to acknowledge concerns during the session. - An open door policy, which means that you are free to step away and leave at any time if something doesn't feel right.
