About the adventure
Will you rise to meet the storm, or be consumed by fire and shadow? The realms are uneasy. Whispers travel on the wind of strange cults gathering in secret, of dragons not just seen but obeyed, of hoarded gold vanishing overnight and caravans vanishing without a trace. Tensions rise between city-states, and ancient ruins begin to stir. Somewhere in the dark, a terrible ambition awakens: the Cult of the Dragon moves once more… but this time, they seek not undeath, but dominion. Tyranny of Dragons is a sweeping, two-part campaign for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition that spans the length and breadth of the Forgotten Realms. Players begin as humble adventurers drawn into a conspiracy of unprecedented scale and if they survive, they may become the last line of defense against a cataclysm that could reshape the world. 🐉 THE THREAT OF TIAMAT The Cult of the Dragon is amassing wealth, power, and influence. Their goal? Nothing less than to summon Tiamat, the five-headed queen of evil dragons, from her hellish prison in the Nine Hells and unleash her wrath upon the mortal world. If they succeed, the skies will blacken with wings, and fire will rain from above. Nations will burn, and the Age of Dragons will begin. Standing in their way is a fragile alliance of factions: the Harpers, the Order of the Gauntlet, the Emerald Enclave, and more. But they need heroes, champions with the strength, cunning, and courage to face the cult head-on, uncover their secrets, and strike before it’s too late. ⚔️ WHAT TO EXPECT An Epic Journey: From small-town skirmishes to council halls of kings, treacherous mountains to ancient flying fortresses, players will travel across a continent to unravel the cult's plans. Dragon-Filled Danger: Face off against chromatic dragons, fanatical cultists, and ruthless mercenaries. Make allies, and enemies among rival adventuring parties, mercantile guilds, and even dragonkind. Political Intrigue and War Strategy: Influence powerful leaders, forge alliances, or sabotage rivals in a high-stakes war of information and diplomacy. High-Stakes Heroism: Your choices matter. Fail to stop the cult at key moments, and the world will change around you. Will you rally the realms… or watch them fall? Legendary Rewards: Battle through deadly dungeons and ancient hoards to uncover magical artifacts, powerful allies, and secrets lost to time. ✨ A CAMPAIGN FOR HEROES This is a campaign of heroic scale and mythic stakes, ideal for players who want to start from humble beginnings and rise to greatness. Whether you're a newcomer to D&D or a seasoned veteran, Tyranny of Dragons offers a classic yet richly dangerous fantasy adventure filled with lore, roleplay, and pulse-pounding action. The cult’s plan is already in motion. The drums of war beat louder each day. The time to act is now. Will you answer the call? Or will the world burn beneath Tiamat’s wings?

Homebrew rules
Crunchy Crits: When you roll a critical hit, rather than rolling your damage dice twice (or rolling twice the number of dice), your first roll will automatically be “rolled” at max value, and you will roll the additional dice, adding that damage to the first (maxed) roll before adding any modifiers to determine total damage. a. For example, if you are attacking with a longsword and roll a critical hit, rather than rolling 2d8, you will automatically “roll” an 8 on the first die, and you will roll the second die as you usually would. Say you have a damage modifier of +1 and roll a 6 with your second die, your damage roll will be 8 + 6 = 14 + 1, for a total damage of 15. Lingering Injuries: See the "lingering injuries table" the Dungeon Masters Guide chapter: 9, page 272.
