About me

The first time I walked into a game store in 1992 and learned to play D&D, I was immediately hooked. Not on the game--that came later--but on the energy of the place, on the shared community, and on those beautiful, clicky-clacky dice! TTRPGs quickly became my favorite form of entertainment, and within a couple of years I was running games of my own. I continued running them through college, marriage, and the start of my family, but after my second child was born we moved away and I hung up my GM hat until 2020. I later discovered 5th edition online, and it re-ignited my passion for the hobby. This version of D&D is closer to the way I like to play than any other, so I started DMing again in 2021. I jumped on board with SPG in 2023, and I love having this chance to connect with new players, start new games, and tell new stories together!

Character creation

Creating your character

1️⃣ Upon registration, you'll be asked to join my Discord server. This is where gameplay will take place. 2️⃣ Once you have done that and answered a few questions about yourself, I'll connect with you in a 20-30 min call to get to know you a bit and discuss your character concepts. 3️⃣ Character creation will be done together during session 0, to form a cohesive team. ℹ️ Players who join an ongoing campaign will need to meet with the DM for a 1-on-1 session 0 and onboarding. This could take up to two hours and will be billed at the regular session rate.

The current party

Currently, this table has an elemental sorcerer, a fighter and a bard who are looking for a few new friends to venture forth with them!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Needed web accounts (all free): ⭐Discord Needed equipment: ⭐Webcam and mic ⭐Stable internet ⭐A quiet setting with minimal background noise ⭐Desktop or laptop computer (no tablets) Needed characteristics: ⭐Experience: None! Teaching beginners is one of my favorite parts of being a GM. I will work with you to make sure you understand what's going on. ⭐Willingness to cooperate with other players. ⭐Willingness to roleplay--to try to react the way your character would. You will not be expected to use a "character voice" or speak in first person. My games are a safe place for players to explore getting into character at the rate they feel comfortable.

What Krystal brings to the table

⭐ A safe, encouraging space for inter-party roleplay. ⭐ Creative, out of the box ideas, and the ability to flexibly respond to player choices ⭐ A strong emphasis on character backstory and goals; and fitting them into the wider story. ⭐ Special voices/characteristics for many NPCs. ⭐ Immersive music and sound effects. ⭐ A dynamic game experience. This as one of my greatest strengths: I'm never static as a DM; I'm always researching, learning, growing, collecting new ideas and content, responding to player feedback.

Homebrew rules

Unique campaign mechanics will be in effect, as well as a few optional rules that will be in play for specific adventures. Each of these will be discussed together as a party before implementation. Daggerheart's optional massive damage rule is in play. (CRB pg 91, SRD pg 39)

Safety

How Krystal creates a safe table

This game is rated: PG Romance 💘 Violence 🗡️🗡️🗡️ Gore/Blood/Death ☠️ This game is for players 18+, but does not contain adult content. As a woman and a neurodivergent gamer, I know how hard it can be to take a chance on a new group. My number one priority is that everyone at the table feels safe and comfortable, so that everyone has a great time. To do this, I carefully consider each player before they enter a game, and will thoughtfully remove players as needed to maintain a community of respect and grace for one another.
