Pathfinder 2e: Season of Ghosts - Horror! Mystery! Adventure!
After a haunted festival night, you awaken alone in the woods—your hometown is in peril, and only heroes can uncover what went wrong.
About the adventure
Every year, the quiet town of Willowshore celebrates the Season of Ghosts—a festival intended to honor the countless spirits that linger in the surrounding lands. It’s a celebration of life, family, and tradition, blending revelry with ancient rites meant to appease the dead and keep the town safe through the changing seasons. But this year, something goes horribly wrong. After a night of music, masks, and merriment, you awaken in the mist-shrouded woods—alone, disoriented, and with no memory of how you got there. The town you once knew lies in chaos, twisted by strange omens, restless spirits, and unnatural blights. Friends and family are missing, and something malevolent stirs beneath Willowshore’s peaceful surface. The veil between the living and the dead has been torn, and only a handful of souls may have the strength to mend it. This Pathfinder Second Edition campaign begins with mystery, leans into folklore horror, and gradually unfolds into a tale of personal and supernatural reckoning. As a native of Willowshore (or a newcomer drawn in by fate), you'll uncover ancient secrets, forge bonds with allies and spirits alike, and face the consequences of a festival gone awry. Expect investigation, haunting encounters, and a creeping sense that something bigger—and older—is at work. Whether you're a local protector, an outcast with a secret, or simply someone trying to survive the supernatural tide, Willowshore needs heroes. Will you answer the call?

Creativity
Teacher
Knows the Rules
Three of these tags aren't enough; Blake Poleman is a great DM. Easy going, but knows how and when to move things along. Great with beginners, but also understands how the game systems work and can do great things with more experienced players as well. He is excellent at telling a story through this medium, and knows how to balance his storytelling with all the elements of a campaign that make them fun to participate in. Not to mention he's a fun dude to hang out with. Highly recommend sitting at his table sometime.
Dustin did a great job of running a holiday one-shot for me and a few friends. He was a good sport, gave nudges without being over-bearing, and presented fun challenges for us to overcome. He's a long-time player and DM that makes everybody feel welcome. A great pick for someone new or an old hand.
Being new to Dungeons & Dragons, I was both eager and uncertain about stepping into the role. Fortunately, Dustin proved to be an exceptional guide. Their patience in explaining the rules and helping me find my footing was commendable. Never once did I feel rushed or overwhelmed. What’s more, they managed the feat of keeping the more seasoned players fully engaged while ensuring I was included and supported. Their ability to balance the needs of the entire table speaks to their skill not only as a Dungeon Master but as a storyteller and leader.
Character creation
Creating your character
All players should read and review the players guide prior to session 0. Found here: https://downloads.paizo.com/SeasonofGhosts_PlayersGuide.pdf At session 0, characters will be created in Foundry which we will be using to play. It is highly encouraged, but not necessary, to have a character built at level 1 in a secondary app like Pathbuilder 2e. Found here: https://pathbuilder2e.com/ Characters will start at level 1 and stats will be decided per normal rules based on class, ancestry, etc. Characters should be built with the theme of the game in mind, using the players guide linked previously.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Need: A Discord account, a mic, PC, Internet connection, a decent understanding of what your class does both in and out of combat. Want: Webcam, a decent understanding of the basic rules. Nice to have: as stated previously, nice to have Pathbuilder 2e not only for character creation but so you can plan out your builds ahead of time.
What Dustin "Blake Poleman" brings to the table
As a GM, I will be providing most of the gameplay to you. I provide the virtual tabletop via Foundry, and the Discord server which we will meet on. I tend towards rules as written, but absolutely accept rule of cool moments that bend them a bit! I love roleplay and combat pretty equally so expect a nice balance between both! I love hamming it up and doing character voices and encourage my players to enjoy themselves in a similar way, but if you're more shy and combat oriented there will be plenty of that too! I also like to flavor our sessions with ambient music and sounds as well as using light and fog of war. That said, you always have the option of turning off or turning down the background music/sounds individually in Foundry!
Homebrew rules
I will be using the Heroic Action variant rule which allows you to use your Hero Points in more ways! When you receive a hero point, you will receive a heroic action "card" to go with it. These have various effects and uses, but you may always trade in one or all of your cards to use a hero point the normal way as well.

How Dustin "Blake Poleman" creates a safe table
When dealing with horror, expect the themes that usually entails to go with it. Spiders and all kinds of creepy crawlies, ghosts, blood, etc... if you want to play but aren't sure of some of the content, I have an open door policy at all times and will do my absolute best to make the experience suit your safety needs. Beyond that, if you're uncomfortable with something that you weren't expecting, please let me know right away and we will move on abruptly.
