The Useful Damned A V5 Exploration of the World of Darkness
Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition | Campaign
About the adventure
For the Kindred travel is dangerous, those that have the choice avoid it, preferring to put down roots and settle into patterns that will prologue their undead lives and allow for a certain level of comfort. You however, do not have that luxury. Mistakes were made and the semblance of stability you have created for yourself as an 11th generation Ancillae vampire has disappeared. This is your last chance at un-life. You have been assigned to a Justicar [the highest ranking adjudicators of law within the Camarilla outside the inner circle] and tasked with a specific mission. To investigate and remedy issues across the United States that threaten the Camarillas interests. Hostile kindred factions, mad mages, fairies, wraiths, infernal demons, and much more seek to disrupt the rule of law. You will deal with all the threats the World of Darkness has to offer in an effort to earn back your undead status and freedom, all the while dealing with the turmoil, conspiracies, and chaotic machinations that are un-alive and well within the very organization you serve.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare
Players will need a working microphone and a Discord account. Preferably a web cam as well but this is not a necessity. We will be utilizing Roll 20 for visual aids, character sheets, and dice rolling.
What I provide
A vibrant setting with a plethora of interesting NPC and scenarios. I have all of the Vampire 5e source materials and many other World of Darkness resources that will be utilized for reference and inspiration. Voice effects, soundboards, visual backdrops, combat reference maps, and music will be used for dramatic effect as well.
Gameplay details
Vampire the Masquerade is a D10 system. You may use the dice bot provided, or your own on an honor system. I will host a free session 0 where we can meet and greet, and discuss boundaries. We will set hard lines on what we do not want in the game together, and veils behind which things can happen, but perhaps with less detail or explanation associated with them. Current Lines: Sexual assault; racial slurs; homophobic slurs; anti-Semitic slurs, misogynistic slurs This is a horror game so things you might encounter could include, body horror, torture, violence against children etc. We will make sure everyone is comfortable with how topics like torture for instance are brought up. Whether they are out in the open or happen behind a veil. My goal is to get dark with everyone, while making sure we are all having a good time.

How will character creation work
Players are encouraged to create their own character if they so desire, we will be using Roll 20 for digital character sheets. I am happy to help with the character creation process. Players will be playing as Ancillae Vampires of the 11th generation. They were typically embraced between the American Revolution and World War II, and are under 250 years old but this is not a requirement. The blood that flows through you and experience of decades has made you quite the formidable monster. In session 0 we will talk about your characters more and discuss how the coterie fits together. Some things to consider when creating your character are, defined ambition (long term goal, desire (short term goal) as well as convictions (your personal code of do's and dont's) and touchstones which are the important people in your characters life/unlife. Additionally think of what your undead life was before you were enlisted by the Justicar and how that undead life fell apart. What missteps were taken upon the path of damnation?
