About the adventure
This campaign is set in the warring states period of Japan. Your clan, the Aoni were visited by strangers from even stranger shores across the ocean. They brought with them gunpowder weaponry, and their religion spread like wildfire. This game is about a dying age, the rise or fall of a nation. Since your clan has adopted the teachings of their newfound allies, there has been instability brewing in the underbelly; Your not-so-friendly neighbouring clans have taken offence and will surely move against you. All the while your people's faith is tested by the Elementalist monks, who cling to the old ways and make the transitionary steps difficult to tread. Your characters will begin their journey in the humble town of Furano, a town in between three borders; Who knows what awaits in the shadows? The game has homebrew elements that might be of interest, such as fighting stances for fighters, weapons, armor, and more. The first arc of the story is centered around establishing the tone of the campaign and the setting. It's important to slow down and enjoy the slice of life. Weapons do more damage for cinematic purposes, both to speed up the game and make combat brutal. You can't just rush into combat without a plan and expect to win, you'll need to work as a group and use your weapons wisely. In the next arcs... Well, we will see.

About me
I tend to favour stories with thought-provoking plots. I reward my players for their efforts and creativity by granting their characters perks and unlockable items, depending on the outcome of a quest and the interactions they have. Hosting games has gotten me through some pretty tough times in my life; In many ways, DnD and the stories thereof are a big part of me. I'm confident we can make some great memories together.

Creating your character
Character creation will take place during session 0. I will guide you through the process and give you snippets of lore and other useful information along the way. We will start the campaign at level 3.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A good mic, a decent internet connection, and the free version of Fantasy Grounds Unity. If you want to learn a few things before session 0, you can check out my world anvil page https://www.worldanvil.com/w/nihkuma-bluechi
What BlueChi brings to the table
I will provide maps, background music, sound effects, and non-player character images. I own most of the books and modules for 5e 2014.

How BlueChi creates a safe table
There will be themes around gender roles, inequality, and scenes of graphic nature. I don't want any politics of any kind in my games as I'm trying to breathe life into the setting, nothing more. That being said, my goal is for everyone to walk away with a smile and have a great time. I will add you to a Discord group where we can talk about the game and what you can expect in more detail. We will be playing through Discord voice chat and Fantasy Grounds Unity.
