About the adventure
This campaign will start in July 2025 and run approximately 3x a month on Saturdays. In dark forests, beyond the mountains, by black lakes in hidden groves. At your doorstep. In the shadows, something stirs. Strange beings. Twisted creatures, lurking at the edge of vision. Watching. Waiting. Unseen by most, but not by you. You see them for what they really are. Vaesen. Welcome to the Mythic North – northern Europe of the nineteenth century, but not as we know it today. A land where the myths are real. A cold reach covered by vast forests, its few cities lonely beacons of industry and enlightenment – a new civilization dawning. But in the countryside, the old ways still hold sway. There, people know what lurks in the dark. They know to fear it. Vaesen presents a dark Gothic setting steeped in Nordic folklore and old myths of Scandinavia. The game mechanics use an adapted version of the award-winning Year Zero Engine. This campaign is suitable for beginners, no previous experience is needed. Pre-gen characters provided or bring your own character! Mystery, horror and suspenseful await!

Creating your character
Pre-Gen characters will be provided. Once you join, a discord invite will be sent. Navigate to the channel for The Lost Mountain Saga (permission will be forthcoming once you join the Discord server and I get you access to the private channel) and pinned at the top is a roster of available pre-gen characters. Check the thread to see if any have been spoken for, and be aware that you are welcome to change the name and/or gender of the pre-gen. You may also bring in your own custom character! Just let me know ahead of time!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A mic and headset/earphones are required. We will use a discord (free account) voice channel for audio. If there is too much background noise on your end, you may be asked to switch to push-to-talk. The game will be run on a Foundry server, you just need to be able to log in to a webpage. Mobile and Tablet is not preferred. No Foundry account is required. Bring an open mind, an appetite to solve a mystery and have a bone-chillingly good time!
