Creating your character

We’ll be going over character creation for Mothership together on the game's Discord. This will give us a chance to collaborate, answer any questions, and create characters that fit perfectly with what's ahead. Feel free to bring any initial ideas, and we’ll work together to flesh them out to make sure everyone’s set for the journey! I'm looking forward to seeing where your creativity takes us! | The Process | Creating a character in Mothership is quick and straightforward. You start by choosing a class, Marine, Scientist, Teamster, or Android, each with specific skills and strengths that help you survive the dangers ahead. Next, you roll for your four main stats: Strength, Speed, Intellect, and Combat, which determine how well you handle physical challenges, think on your feet, and survive in combat. You then pick a few skills that fit your character’s background, like Medicine, Engineering, or Piloting, to give you an edge in specific situations. From there, you get starting equipment and a personal item, something comforting or sentimental that can reduce stress in dire moments. In just a few minutes, you’re ready to dive into the game, with a character uniquely suited to face the horrors of space. Does it still sound too complicated? No worries! I can help!

Preparing for the session

| Equipment | A clear, working microphone is required. Please make sure your microphone is working before the session. Headphones are a very good idea, if possible, in order to prevent disruptions from ambient noise. A webcam for video is not needed, but is welcome and encouraged. | Software | An account with Discord is required. We will be using Discord for general game management. You should have it installed before the game starts. I will also be using Foundry VTT for session maps and other content, but you do not need to download or install anything for Foundry beforehand. | Game Understanding and Virtual Tabletop Use | Familiarity with the Mothership system is helpful but not at all mandatory. We'll clarify rules as we go and support our new players! The same goes for your understanding of Discord and Foundry VTT. | Mindset | Come prepared to be part of a collaborative adventure! Our game thrives on teamwork, imaginative thinking, and mutual respect.

What Vee brings to the table

A Discord server and Foundry VTT will be set up for the game. On the Discord we will be using the text and voice chat functions, and on Foundry VTT I will be using custom maps, portraits of NPCs and music.

How Vee creates a safe table

Upon joining this one-shot, I will invite you to the Discord server, where there will be a link to the RPG consent checklist. The content warnings include things that may never come up, so please include whatever you're uncomfortable with. My approach balances the game's overall experience with a reasonable adherence to rules, emphasizing creative storytelling while ensuring gameplay remains structured and coherent. Expect a lively, engaging game with me, where the rules are respected but not to an excessive degree, allowing for a fluid, role-playing rich experience. I infuse some humour and comedic scenarios throughout, if appropriate, and carefully shape the narrative to facilitate character development and the advancement of individual backstories and goals. Visual elements are integral to my campaigns. I present players with visual references of the environments they explore and the characters they encounter, enhancing immersion and helping them to more fully embody their characters and the captivating worlds they inhabit.
