About the adventure

The Darkening has covered Tarasil. Each night, beasts and monsters prowl the land, bringing death and danger to those they cross. The people dwell in four city states, and survive as best they can. The great Lighthouses within each city keep them safe. Due to their magic, when the sun sets, the magical light covers the cities and keeps the monsters at bay. The Lightkeepers, an order made to protect the Lighthouses, are the main line of defense against the Darkness. You are a member of their order. Perhaps you joined out of simply seeking to do good. Perhaps it was to escape a life on the streets. Maybe it was to slay monsters that killed a loved one. Regardless of your reasoning, you are a Lightkeeper initiate, sworn to hold back the Darkness. May the gods light your steps, and may your lantern shine bright.

About me

I have loved DND since I first started playing some years ago. I've been a player for a long time, and have DM'ed off and on. I love all the stories we can tell with DND, and the cooperative story telling DND offers is amazing to me. In spare time I cuddle with my adorable kitty, and play Baldur's Gate. My day job is the gloriously dull work of retail.

Character creation

Creating your character

Race options for character creation are human or variant human, elf, half elf, kobold, dragonborn, aasimar, tiefling, dwarf, gnome, halfling, and half orc. You may use the optional 'floating stats' rules, so ability score increases aren't tied to race. All classes are acceptable save for artificer. You will need a reason to be a part of the Lightkeepers as well. The campaign will start at level three. All players will use a starting array of 17, 15, 13, 12, 10 and 8 before racial bonuses.

The current party

This will be a darker story, so while some humor is to be expected, no joke characters please. Please also bring a backstory with some detail as well, so I can incorporate your OC into the world properly. Also, the exact schedule is playing every week except for the first Saturday of the month. That will be an off day.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a working mic, a roll20 account and a discord account, and a basic understanding of DND 5e, 2014 rules.

What Dylan brings to the table

I endeavor to give everyone a good time, above all else. I love creating stories with my players, and having it change based on what they decide to do each session. When a player brings up their characters backstory I want to try and find ways to bring it into the story of the game as a whole. I utilize music as often as I can to help create atmosphere. It is vital for setting a mood so I've got some tracks in mind already for various scenarios. I often keep to the rules, but do use some homebrew and if a player has a request for an alteration, I'm more than willing to at least hear it out.

Safety

How Dylan creates a safe table

Before we start, we will have a session zero. During that session, we will discuss all our lines and veils, and it can be done publicly or privately. All X, N and O's will be done via roll20 and whispered to me. Along with that, all thing that could be triggering but can be alluded to will be warned about ahead of time. If anyone at any point feels something is too much I will immediately stop that description and move on, no questions asked.
