About the adventure

A young boy appears to be under some form of spell and has taken to wondering around the frozen Norfolk Broads at night. His father is worried about him and has sent a letter to the Society to ask for help. As members of the Order of Artemis you travel to the Victorian town of Potter Heigham to investigate the strange goings on and delve into the history of lost loves, a changing environment and the perils of war. This is the second of a series of Vaesen scenarios I am working on based in the East Anglian country side and the myths and legends from this haunted land. Suitable for all players of all experience levels

About me

Hi all, I'm David and welcome to new and exciting worlds and adventures. I have been playing and running TTRPGs on and off for about 25yrs. In the last 6-7years they have been a major part of my life, giving me the oppotunity to meet new people and explore new places. For a while I prefered to game around a table and then lockdown hit. I started to play on line and have streamed my games in various places, both as a player and a storyteller. My passion for the gaems I play have lead to be do free lance writing for Warhammer Fantasy, Wrath & Gory and Soulbound: Age of Sigmar along with some other smaller indie games and various community content publications. Game wise I love to play most things but have a tendency towards personal horror, wyrd and folkloric. One of my favourite games is Vaesen, but I also delve into games such as Kult, Solemn Vale, Tales From the Loop (and Things from the Flood), Warhammer Fantasy. Anything a little dark and a little wyrd. I am always looking for interesting and different scenarios and games to play that push me as a Storyteller to explore new ideas. I am one of the hosts of Darker Days Radio, a podcast about horror themed RPGs. I also host my own podcast, The Drunken Storyteller, where I delve into folkore, myths, legends and play rpgs. I thrive on good story telling over rules crunch and am more likely to reward a novel and interesting story hook / arc that shiney math rock calculator. Though this does have its place. If this sounds interesting to you them we should get along just fine :) I look forward to adventuring with you

Character creation

Creating your character

For this game, I am happy for players to bring their own characters or to reach out to me for a pregen we can create together. The only thing I request is that players DM me their dark secret and we work together to make sure that it fits with the game themes and players line and veils. With this being Year Zero and Vaesen, character creation is very simple and quick. This is a one shot and base level characters will be used. The mystery is set in the Mythic Britain setting, but character archytypes can come from any published Vaesen book.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the games starts a knowledge of the rules is not needed and can be taught during the game. The only request is a webcam and a mic. Characters can be supplied upon request.

What David brings to the table

We will use roll20 for dice rolls and theatre of the mind for the game. I embrace storytelling and good roleplay. Rules are guidelines and there to push the story forward. If you do something cool in a roleplaying way dice rolls may not be needed.

Safety

How David creates a safe table

I will DM players to find their lines and veils and keep the names of players and what they chose secret. Players will only know the lines and veils. X cards can be done visually or through a DM to me if theh player feels uncomfortable in expressing it openly. If players need aftercare or to deal with Bleed we can remain on a call and chat about things. I am hear to help players enjoy and feel comfortable.
