About the adventure

A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away... The Clone Wars has ended, the Separatist Droid Army has been shut down, the Jedi Order has been all but destroyed, and the Republic which has stood for thousands of years has ended. In the place of the old order, is the first Galactic Empire. In the wake of Palpatine's rise to the title of Emperor, many in the galaxy who once defended peace and justice are now made enemies of this new Empire. And through fear and power the new Empire maintains control over much of the galaxy. However, a few yet remain to resist the Empire. Worlds far out into the Outer Rim who supported the CIS still holdout against Imperial tyranny. The criminal underworld, as it always has, wethers the rise of this new regime. And even a few among the Jedi Order survived Order 66. Two years after the rise of the Empire, you found yourselves in need of employment. So you searched in the dark and shady corners of the galaxy. In the end, you found yourself in the employ of Lady Tola Varsh. A self-proclaimed collector of ancient artifacts, she hired you and a group of companions to find a Jedi artifact on the world of Dantooine. Rumoured to old the secrets of an exiled Jedi Coven hiden where none but they yet dwell who escaped the fate of the Order. It was quickly discovered that this artifact was an old Jedi Starmap Holocron. However, before you could learn anything from it, you were betrayed by Varsh who then had you placed on a prison ship bound for Kessel, forever to be lost in the Spice Mines. However, Tola Varsh could never have anticipated what the Force had in store for all of you, and your fate does not belong to the mines. This game is set in 17 BBY during the early days of the Empire. Set in an Alternate Universe made over 5 years ago, sharing a massive continuity with several other campaigns. All telling their own unique stories that contribute to the greater whole in their own way. This game focuses primarily on the Force and the Jedi, but with significant elements of both Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion. Your destiny begins here! And may the Force be with you!

About me

Hello There! You can call me many different things! Gallant, Commander Hellreaper, Morgan LePenguin, Jayden, and more! I have been GMing for the past 5 years running multiple Campaigns! Namely, I am running a Star Wars Alternate Universe using the Star Wars RPG by Fantasy Flight Games/Edge Studios. I own all three Core Rulebooks and all of the Sourcebooks. I run my games on Foundry VTT, using a Discord Server to talk with players. I have Wednesday through Sunday available for running games. When I run my games, I run them with the themes of the universe in question. Trying to create an experience being both unique while still being true to the feeling of the system/universe. I enjoy allowing my players to shape the Campaigns with their decisions. Allowing the players free will (but certainly not free from consequences!). Being open to discussion to find compromise whenever issues arrive. I like to give my games a feeling of being lived in. Using Worldbuilding to make the world feel real. Giving each NPC their own personalities. I like to use skills I've learned in writing fiction to help players feel connected to the game world. I hope you consider me for your games! And I am excited to share the experience of these games with you!

Character creation

Creating your character

Once you join the Sever, you may message our Foundry Manager Admin who will help to get your character and user set-up on Foundry/Forge. And once your character is prepared, you meet with the GM who then finalises character creation with you by working with you on Motivations, Obligations, Duties, and Mortalities as well as figuring out your backstory and your place in the narrative.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All you will need is Discord, a mic, and a device capable of running Foundry VTT on a Web browser such as a Laptop or Desktop.

What Gallant Ascent brings to the table

I will provide access to our Forge/Foundry Server with an ever updating and ever growing catalogue of everything from this system. As well as a link to our lovely discord server so you may interact with like-minded people in a safe and fun gaming environment for all. I tend to prioritise the agency of players but to ensure a continuity exists between all games set in this AU, there are some things that sadly just can't happen (sadly we can't kill Vader for example, but nothing is stopping us from trying to defeat him and win!). I love when players are able to make decisions on their own and have the initiative to act towards something first. However, we also cater to somewhat quieter players by me providing prompts for the player to take after. I try to make the world feel alive and keep to many of the primary themes of Star Wars. I also try to create enough of a challenge as to make the chances of defeat seem real, but make no mistake, I want you to win and the challenge is designed to be won against for a rewarding playing experience which is then balanced out with specially built encounters for players to steamroll through to keep the momentum and energy going.

Homebrew rules

In character creation, you receive a free rank in all 4 career skills from your specialization instead of two. Likewise you start with 600 credits instead of 500. We also have available custom playable species (e.i. Herglic, Sephi, and custom ones such as the Yerenak and Vran), and even custom careers and specializations created by the GM and your fellow community members.

Safety

How Gallant Ascent creates a safe table

Before the start of the Campaign, we have an RPG Consent Forum pinned to the general chat of our discord server. You are ask to fill this out. Likewise we will be doing a Session 0 (which will be free) to ensure we set expectations and create a safe and fun playing experience for everyone. Whenever content that could be considered upsetting comes up, we will provide warnings and try our best to limit the sources of discomfort and allow for breaks to ensure safety. And should any issues come up, you may reach out to the GM and or the Player Resources who will attend to whatever concerns you may have.
