Friend, Foe, or Food? | Beast Feast | Daggerheart Launch Party
Daggerheart | One-Shot
About the adventure
The rustic, peaceful village of Elmore sits atop the Plover Caves, a labyrinthine system of caverns full of dangerous and delectable creatures. When the powerful magic keeping the villagers safe begins to fail, the bravest among them must descend into the caves to save the day. In a Beast Feast campaign, you'll play everyday heroes diving into the Plover Caves to reignite the magic lure that lies in its depths and cook up delicious meals. Welcome to a culinary world of zoophagous delight, where the beasts you fight become the food you eat! The story starts a few weeks after the Lure has fallen, our heroes find themselves stuck in the Twilight looking for a way down into the next floor, when suddenly they meet a creature they've only heard stories about. Is it friend? Is it foe? Or is it... food? We'll have to find out together! In this adventure, we will use the Beast Feast Campaign Frame and its ruleset. Players will bring level 4 characters to this campaign equipped with tier 2 gear!

Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Skilled and inclusive! Rice was a skilled and professional DM that did a great job inviting every player to participate and help build the story. The vibe was relaxed and confident. I am a trans person who is almost always perceived as a woman but who is nonbinary and uses he/they pronouns. I was not misgendered and my gender and presentation did not come up at all, even when on camera. I was able to have a great time playing a fun game!
My first time playing with StartPlaying.games and I couldn't of asked for a better GM. Great communication and making me feel welcomed. He is so good at making a group of total strangers feel like an actual seasoned party. I had so much fun playing and will remember our game forever!
I've had the pleasure of playing with GM RiceKombo in both D&D 5e and Daggerheart, and I can honestly say each experience has been fantastic. Whether it’s classic dungeon delving or exploring the strange magic of Fanewick, they consistently bring creativity, flexibility, and a real passion for storytelling to the table.
Just an absolute delight to learn Daggerheart under GM RiceKombo. He's been so knowledgeable about the mechanics throughout the beta, and I got to play at his table using the official rules for the first time. It was one of my favorite high-level one shots I've been able to experience. Biggest asset to his GM style is his ability to let the players tell the story, and he sets everyone up for success by giving all players their moment to shine. Highly recommend this GM to anyone no matter their skill level.

Gameplay details
To ensure everyone's comfort and safety during our game sessions, we employ several safety tools and practices. Here’s a breakdown of how we handle this: X, N, & O's: We use digital signals for our X (stop), N (pause or caution), and O (everything's okay) during the game. This can be through a private message to me or a signal in our group chat. It’s a discreet way to communicate comfort levels in real-time. Most Importantly I operate with an Open Door policy. I’m always open to feedback, whether about gameplay mechanics, narrative direction, or interpersonal dynamics. Let's keep the conversation open to ensure our game remains enjoyable and inclusive for all.
