About the adventure

In the shadow of a tightening Empire, a ragtag group of unlikely allies finds themselves working against oppression. They’re thrust into a network of cells across the galaxy working against an ever-looming Imperial war machine. Set just years before the events of A New Hope, Flames of Rebellion is a story-rich Star Wars adventure where your choices shape your fate. This story takes heavily from Andor and similar tv shows/movies.

About me

Looking for a seasoned Scottish DM to bring your tabletop stories to life? I'm your guy. With over a decade of storytelling, worldbuilding, and DM experience, I specialise in crafting deep, character-driven campaigns that blend cinematic action, rich lore, and high-stakes drama. From D&D 5E (including a 4-year Curse of Strahd epic!) to the dark intrigues of Vampire: The Masquerade, the chaotic clashes of Lancer, and the mind-bending mysteries of Call of Cthulhu—I’ve run it all. I love what I do and I hope you get to enjoy it to. 🎙 Worked with streamers, voice actors, & internet-famous DMs 🎲 I want to focus tightly themed (20-session - or so) campaign seasons with immersive storytelling (think dimension 20). 🌍 Another objective is to establish multi-year collaborative world building and establishing a dedicated, long-term TTRPG group. Whether you want high fantasy, cyberpunk warfare, gothic horror, or superhero mayhem, I’ll bring atmosphere, tension, and unforgettable moments to every session. 🔥 Now booking new campaigns and taking suggestions – let’s roll some dice and make legends. 🔥 📩 DM me to join the next adventure.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation – Session 0 Guide Welcome to Flames of Rebellion! Before we dive into our gritty, pre-A New Hope Star Wars adventure, we’ll dedicate Session 0 to character creation and group setup. Here's how it will work: 📅 When & Where Character creation will happen during Session 0, in person or via your preferred virtual tabletop platform. This will also serve as a time for players to establish connections, align expectations, and explore the tone of the game. 📘 Rules & Resources We will be using the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Fantasy Flight Games (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny) or Star Wars D20. Whatever is most popular with the players. If you're unfamiliar with the system, don't worry—we’ll walk you through the basics. 🎭 Character Types Your character should be someone who owes a serious debt to a Hutt and has been dragged into a life of dangerous work. Possible archetypes include: Residents: Scrappy locals trying to survive on backwater planets. Bounty Hunters: Hardened professionals, bound by a code—or credits. Gangsters & Smugglers: Schemers, slicers, and blaster-slingers with shady pasts. Force Sensitives: Rare and hunted—those who feel the Force must stay hidden... or rise.

The current party

On Tatooine, a fledgling rebel cell, bound more by necessity than ideology, is beginning to stir against the Empire. At its helm is Snarl, a Shistavanen ace whose instincts make their battered Nu-Class shuttle fly like a predator; alongside him stands Rafe, a weathered Clone Wars veteran and Antarian Ranger who lends discipline to their chaos. Tiko, a Clawdite grifter, slips between identities and crowds with a tongue as sharp as any blaster, while Sprocket, an Anzellan genius hidden in a modified R2 shell, keeps the crew and ship running on spit, sparks, and stubbornness. Together, they are not legends—yet—but thieves, survivors, and dreamers testing Imperial defenses and striking sparks in the dark, hoping to ignite something greater.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

How Should Players Prepare? To get the most out of this game, here’s what you’ll need: Strong Character Concept: Come to Session 0 with an idea for a character. You don't need a full sheet—just a solid concept that fits the tone of the campaign. Readiness to Engage: This story is built around investigation, roleplay, and action. Bring a willingness to ask questions, explore leads, and get your hands dirty. Your character’s choices will drive the story forward. Microphone (Required): A clear mic is essential for group communication. Webcam is optional but encouraged if you feel comfortable—it really helps with roleplay and reading the table's energy. Accounts and Software: A free Foundry VTT account (details and link will be provided) Discord for chat, announcements, and out-of-session discussion Rules Familiarity: You do not need to know the system deeply beforehand. I’ll explain anything you need to know, and we’ll learn or refresh together during Session 0.

What Story Teller Cairns brings to the table

This game blends Foundry VTT for high-impact visuals with a theater of the mind approach to make scenes flow cinematically. Expect custom assets, moody maps, and ambient music to set the tone—but never at the cost of slowing down the story. As a GM, I focus on: Character-driven storytelling — Your choices shape the world. Your backstories matter. Dynamic, tactical combat — Fast, dangerous, and cinematic. Environments are part of the fight. Rule of Cool — If you describe something badass, I’ll work with you to make it happen (and the dice will have their say). Immersive Atmosphere — Expect NPC voices, ambient soundscapes, and gritty detail. I want you to feel each planet.

Safety

How Story Teller Cairns creates a safe table

Safety Tools and Gameplay Details At the heart of this game is respect, comfort, and collaboration. We’ll be telling a story that blends mystery, and action, and it's important that everyone feels safe and heard. Session 0: Before we dive into the main story, we’ll hold a Session 0 to establish player expectations, tone, and safety boundaries. We’ll go over: Lines (hard limits — things that won't appear) Veils (topics that can appear but only “fade to black”) How to handle character conflict, and make sure player-versus-player tension, if any, is always discussed and consensual. Safety Tools: We will use the X, N, and O system during gameplay: X = "Stop immediately" (hard line crossed or strong discomfort) N = "Narrative pause" (slow down, check in, or shift scene) O = "I'm okay to continue, even if the scene is intense" These will be available digitally, either through chat (text) or visually held up on video (if we’re on camera). Players are encouraged to type X, N, or O in the group chat discreetly if they need to. Breaks and Check-ins: We will have scheduled breaks every 60 minutes to let players step away, reset, and rehydrate. Players can also call a break at any time if they need it. Aftercare: At the end of every session, we’ll take a few minutes for decompression and aftercare. We’ll check in with each other briefly to discuss how everyone is feeling—both about the game and personally. It’s important that no one leaves a heavy or difficult scene carrying the emotional weight alone.
