WATERDEEP AND BEYOND! | Homebrew Waterdeep: Dragon Heist
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
A rumor has taken over the city of Waterdeep - the former Open Lord Neverember embezzled hundreds of thousands of gold from the public and hid it somewhere within the city limits. Some of the biggest players in the city, both legitimate and criminal, are searching for it... which definitely means something, right? Waterdeep is known as the City of Splendours for a reason, nearly drowning in gold, gems, and powerful arcana. But that does not mean that things are going well for most people in the city limits. They say that Waterdeep is the only city where gold pieces float upwards into the hands of the mysterious Lords of Waterdeep. Most citizens are struggling, fighting tooth and nail for any opportunity to make a living. Times are getting desperate. The city is on the verge of political and financial ruin - what's a better time for you to chase after a legend? The perfect adventure for new players and experienced players alike, this campaign will throw players into the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist adventure and homebrew beyond! Dive head first into a city on the edge of collapse with brand new story arcs, enemies, and cataclysms. Take on the criminal underworld, guildmasters, and even the mysterious Lords of Waterdeep themselves as you all fight for a treasure beyond comprehension. But getting the hoard is only the first step. What you do with it will decide the fate of Waterdeep and Faerun forever. No matter what, you will become a legend... for good or ill is up to you.
Game style
Organized Play
Organized Play uses a standardized ruleset for character creation, leveling, and rewards. Every character plays by the same rules. Its strength is flexibility: bring your character to any table and jump right in. With tight rule adherence, every game feels consistent, fair, and ready for adventure.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
