About the adventure

Ars Magica is a high-roleplay game set in a fantasy-enhanced version of medieval Europe, where magic is real and mages are able to shape the world. As players, you get to play these mages, but also the companions and supporters that join them in creating a place in the world for themselves, called a Covenant. In the course of play, most sessions will feature some of the players playing their mage, while others play the companions and 'grogs' and inhabitants of the covenant. As the game continues, these roles will rotate, with the spotlight moving from group to group of characters. There are also games where the mages will gather to discuss the plans for the covenant, these involve all the mages (and usually nobody else) and a lot of roleplaying, with almost nothing else. A campaign of Ars Magica takes place over the course of years, sometimes decades, of the life of the covenant and its inhabitants, as they grow, age, and in some cases die or bring new people into the covenant. It may grow and prosper, struggle, or dwindle and fall, all based on the characters' choices.

About me

I've been playing RPGs for over 40 years now, since I was but a wee little adventurer. This is a new way to bring in new players and connect people all over the world! New players are the lifeblood of the hobby and I always love seeing what they bring to it.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players in Ars Magica have a mage character as well as several companions and/or grogs. The characters present at the start of the Covenant will be created in a session zero. Knowledge of the material is not required, nor is ownership of any books for the game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

No advanced preparation is required. Mic for voice chat will be needed. Characters will be created in the Session 0. If players want they can watch some basics about the game on YouTube, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQo5CV-7xDA&t=370s or read up on the books for the game.

What Tintros brings to the table

I have a library of all 5 editions of Ars Magica, much of which can be used in 5th edition with little to no modification. This leaves a huge amount of material to draw upon to tailor the course of the campaign to player interests. NPC voices and accents, sometimes ambient music, and an embrace of the Covenant prosperity and politics will feature heavily.

Safety

How Tintros creates a safe table

A medieval fantasy setting leaves the potential for a lot of possible content issues, so particular attention will be paid to the player's concerns and any Lines and Veils, as well as the X card in particular.
