About the adventure
Something dark stirs beneath the Sword Coast. What begins as a return to the sleepy frontier town of Phandalin quickly spirals into an ancient mystery buried deep below — and reality itself begins to fracture. Are you prepared to uncover the secrets of the Shattered Obelisk? This is a reimagined and fully modernized version of Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk, run using the complete 2024 D&D ruleset and hosted on Foundry VTT with immersive maps, dynamic animations, voice-acted NPCs, and seamless combat and roleplay transitions. Whether you're new to D&D or a seasoned veteran, this campaign offers a balanced mix of exploration, tactical encounters, and compelling roleplay moments. The tone blends classic adventure with elements of psychological horror and cosmic dread. As your characters dig deeper — both literally and narratively — the line between what’s real and what’s not may begin to blur. Player backstories will be worked into the fabric of the world where possible, giving personal stakes to the strange happenings below. If you’re looking for a richly narrated, visually engaging, and emotionally rewarding campaign with the latest rules and professional DM presentation — this game is for you.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

What I provide
🎲 What I Bring to the Table: Foundry VTT with full automation and visual enhancements (MidiQOL, token effects, animations, and more) Official 2024 D&D Rulebooks fully integrated for smooth character management and rules referencing High-quality custom maps and detailed scenes built for tactical combat and exploration Dynamic lighting, fog of war, and ambient audio to enhance immersion Character voices for NPCs and villains to bring the world to life Thematic music and soundscapes to underscore key moments and environments Theater of the Mind transitions for cinematic or narrative-heavy scenes Player-focused storytelling, with room for backstory integration and character-driven arcs Session 0 and safety tools to build a respectful, comfortable table environment for all players My GM style blends story-rich exploration, dangerous tactical combat, and reactive roleplay. I stick closely to the 2024 ruleset, but I embrace the Rule of Cool when it elevates the moment and everyone’s having fun. You can expect a game that balances narrative weight, mechanical challenge, and room to shine as a character. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned veteran, my goal is to make every session feel like a chapter in an unforgettable fantasy story.
Gameplay details
-Aftercare This is a quick check in with everyone, make sure everything went well. See what went wrong and what was good, and if anything needs to change going forward. -Breaks Halfway through the session we'll take a quick 5 minute break, if you need to step away though please do not hesitate to do so! -Lines and Veils We’ll establish a shared list of Lines (hard no’s — content that will not appear) and Veils (content that may be present but will fade to black or be handled off-screen). This ensures everyone is on the same page about sensitive topics. -Open Door Policy Players can step away from the session at any time — no explanation required. Whether it’s for a quick breather, an emergency, or just needing space, you’re always free to come and go as needed. -Session 0 We’ll begin with a Session 0 to set expectations, create characters, go over safety tools, and build shared tone and themes for the game. It’s the foundation for a strong, fun, and respectful campaign. -X, N, O Cards These are real-time safety signals: X = Stop immediately. N = Not comfortable, approaching a boundary — slow down or shift. O = Everything’s good, keep going. These can be typed in chat or said aloud anytime. They help maintain a respectful, responsive table environment.

How will character creation work
🎒 Character Prep Details Create your character before Session 0. We’ll review it together, make sure it fits the party, and tie it into the story. Starting level is 1, using Standard Array or Point Buy. Use only content from the 2024 core rules (PHB, DMG, MM) within Foundry VTT. Custom backgrounds and homebrew (spells, items, etc.) may be allowed if discussed and approved ahead of time. The campaign kicks off in Neverwinter, with your character responding to a job linked to Gundren Rockseeker. How you know him — or even if you do — is completely up to you. The more grounded and thoughtful your backstory, the more I’ll weave it into the world. 📚 Featured Content / Modules Used This campaign uses the official 2024 Foundry modules, including: 2024 Player’s Handbook 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide 2024 Monster Manual All modules are fully integrated in Foundry VTT for seamless character building and in-game reference.
