Game style
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Gameplay details
I will send out the lines and veils document before the first session. We go through it thoroughly during Session 0, then we create characters. Mutant: Year Zero is a post-apocalyptic exploration game. A typical session in Mutant: Year Zero looks like this: * Players gather for the Ark Assembly. This is where they make decisions for how to improve their home base- the base building aspect of this game is very strong. * Playing their PCs - Players can adventure in the Ark or outside it, exploring the dangers of the Zone outside. As a sandbox game, the players decide which goals they want to pursue: developing the Ark, search the ruins for Artifacts from the Old Days, or find their origins in the mythical Eden? * Wrap up and de-brief. What worked, what didn't? Experience points to characters, opportunity for players to give feedback on the session. I use Monte Cook's Consent in Gaming checklist. I will calibrate the game according to player needs as expressed through that checklist, so any of the below can be vetoed or handled "off-screen" as needed. In Mutant: Year Zero, as written (and this can be adjusted according to the above), the game contains: * Slavery * Torture * Freezing to Death * Natural disasters * Severe weather * Gore * Harm to animals * Racism * Starvation * Thirst

How will character creation work
Characters will be beginners (equivalent to DnD level 1). We will create them together, during Session 0, though we can start sketching them before. Key is to create a group of adventurers that will want to stay together for a long, long time, through thick and think, so all characters need to function together with each other. Do not build a character that antagonizes the rest of the group!
