Creating your character

Character creation will take place during Session 0 and will be done together as a group in Roll20 VTT. This ensures everyone has a chance to collaborate and build their characters with full support. I’ll guide you through every step to ensure each character feels integrated into the world of Fabula Ultima: ReFantazio. - Starting Level: All characters will begin at Level 5. Fabula Ultima's Base Level. Stats: In Fabula Ultima, character stats are determined by distributing die sizes (D6, D8, and D10) among your attributes. This allows for unique customization and reflects how your character’s strengths and weaknesses manifest. We’ll discuss this process in detail during Session 0 to make sure everyone is comfortable with how their character evolves. Choosing Classes: In Fabula Ultima, you’ll begin by selecting two classes. These combinations offer you a variety of abilities and the chance to explore diverse playstyles. This choice will define your character’s role, power, and path, so we’ll go over all available options and their synergies during our session. Books & Resources: We’ll primarily use the core rulebook, but I have access to all officially released resources for Fabula Ultima, so if you’d like to explore any additional options (such as alternate classes or advanced rules), we’ll integrate them as needed. It helps with immersion and creates a more personal connection at the table. - Reading the Rules: You don’t need to read the Fabula Ultima rules ahead of time, as I’ll guide you through everything during Session 0. Creating a safe and welcoming space is essential to the experience I offer. I believe everyone plays their best — and has the most fun — when they feel respected, seen, and heard. Here's how I make that happen at the table: Session 0 is mandatory for all players. We’ll go over tone, content expectations, group dynamics, house rules, character creation, and collaborative worldbuilding. This also helps us align on the kind of story we want to tell together. I use the Monte Cook Games Consent Checklist, which each player will fill out before we begin. This helps identify any sensitive topics up front and sets boundaries early. We will use Lines and Veils, with a shared document that everyone can reference and update as needed. X, N, and O signals are always in play, and can be used digitally in chat or in-call depending on preference. These tools let players express comfort, caution, or discomfort at any time. After each session, we’ll do Stars & Wishes to highlight what we loved and explore what we want more of, ensuring everyone feels heard and uplifted. I offer aftercare as needed. This can be a short debrief, a message check-in, or simply holding space if a session brought up strong emotions. Whether you're new to tabletop games or a seasoned player, your emotional safety and comfort are just as important as your character’s arc. My goal is for every player to feel empowered to tell a story they care about.
