"Vecna: Eve of Ruin" D&D 5e Adventure - levels 10-20

"Vecna: Eve of Ruin" D&D 5e Adventure - levels 10-20

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Adventure Synopsis The Lich-god Vecna is attempting to eliminate good, obliterate the gods, and subjugate all worlds, threatening the existence of the multiverse unless a group of heroes can travel across various planes to find and piece together a long-lost artifact and stop Vecna's terrifying plan before all is lost! Info about the GM Hi, I'm Venadon. I've been playing D&D for four plus years now as both player and GM on Roll20, with 5000+ hours of game time experience spent creating adventures, one-shots, and characters. I fell in love with this amazing hobby for everything it has to offer! I as a GM am big on player choice, I like giving players as many options as possible from the official books or third-party books so you can create your ideal character with some level of balance kept in mind, but that being said I don't place any restrictions in my games so you can play whatever Species, Class or Background you want with approval by me first if it is third-party. In addition, I am more than happy to help you with your character to fit them into the world/adventure so you can have the most fun possible. I hope that knowing this will convince you to join me in making great stories we can look back on! Payment The reason I ask for compensation is so I can put it right back into this beloved hobby of mine so that I might improve my game further for you with high-quality maps, art for NPC's and new tools to make the game better, however I can, but do know that both Session 0 & Session 1 are free so you can get a feel for the game and with me as your DM before beginning to pay, this also includes your first session with us if you're joining us later in the campaign. It should be noted that along wth the price I am asking, there will be an additional service fee payment added on that is out of my hands. Typically, this is around an extra $2 from what I have seen. I charge what I do because $20 translates to roughly £10-12, which is my local currency. This is what I am looking to make from my game(s) and put back into them to increase their quality. Applying for the Game If everything you have read so far interests you, then please send me a message so we can chat further. I check my messages often, so we can chat there or on Discord if you prefer. I will happily answer any follow-up questions you may have as well.

Game style

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Recruiting notes

This is a high-level campaign, and it is recommended to have some experience with building a character at such levels. Current Level: 10 Player Characters: N/A Current situation: Lord Neveremeber has put out a call for experienced heroes, mercenaries and powerful individuals to help save a group of kidnapped nobles from Neverdeath Gravyard. What is discovered there, however, will have far greater consequences then any one was prepared for. Using the new D&D 5e 2024 rules, we will be adventuring across the different planes of the multiverse to stop one of D&D's oldest villains from enacting a terrible ritual.

How to prepare

A decent microphone for communication is recommended. A free account on both Roll20 & Discord will be required if you do not already have them (I recommend downloading the Discord app).

What I provide

Roll20 will be the VTT we play on, with a massive selection of official and third-party content to pick and choose from to make your ideal character come to life. Voice communication will be done via Discord. Music, character voices and well-run combat will be provided by the DM. (Players are not expected to do voices if they are not comfortable with doing so.) We will be using the 2024 rules for this campaign, but you can use 2014 sub-classes should they not currently exist in the 2024 rules. Variant rules will be available to craft your character however you like. This includes quality of life rules, alternative spellcasting so you can switch which stat a spellcasting class uses, narrative rules that will grant inspiration or other boons at the GM's discretion and many more! (All will be discussed in session 0.) 11 Additional classes will be available, as well as many additional sub-classes, species and spells from various third-party books owned by the GM.

Gameplay details

We will take a 5-10-minute break halfway through each session (give or take 10 minutes). If you ever need to contact the DM privately, you will be able to do so via specifically built Whisper channels on Discord or by direct message. Session 0 will cover everything involved with the game, and if there is anything specific you want addressed, the DM will make time to answer. Racism, sexism and homophobia will not be permitted, ever. This game is a safe space for all!

How will character creation work

Characters will start at level 10 as the adventure begins, and by the end, everyone will reach level 20! Players will be able to start with an Uncommon magical item, as well as choose a Rare magical item that they will acquire later. Player will also have an assortment of gold from their past adventures to spend as they like on non-magical equipment and spell components (specifically components with a cost to them, you need not track other components unless you would like to for the flavour). Equipment: When buying equipment at character creation, you cannot purchase magical items of any kind, however, Healing Potions are exempt from this rule, non-healing potions (e.g. Giant Strength, Fire Breathing, Invisibility) are considered magical items and are unable to be purchased at character creation. Stats: We will be using the standard Point-buy rules when choosing stats. Hit Points: When players create their character and when they level up, they will be taking the average HP. Higher Levels: Should you have to make a character at higher levels, you will be granted additional equipment, gold and magic item(s) at the GM's discretion.
