About the adventure

A string of grisly murders and high profile thefts shake up the Commonwealth. Coupled with that is the start of one of the harshest winters the Commonwealth has ever seen. The NCR, Brotherhood of Steel, Followers of the Apocalypse, Regulators, Gun Runners, Crimson Caravan Co, Van Graffs, Khans, several raider gangs, and even the local Vault Dwellers have to cohabitate in order to survive the deadly freeze. With a (very tenuous) truce, most factions have come together against the cold, and a mysterious faction from the west, known only as the Children of Atom, has grown exponentially since the Cold Snap began. Which faction do YOU hail from? Do you walk the Wastes as a (wo)man, machine, super mutant, or ghoul? What are you willing to do to survive? And how much are you prepared to sacrifice to save your patch of dirt? Your mettle WILL be tested in "Fallout : Atomic Winter"! EXPECT: 📚 "West Marches" campaign spanning 12-16 sessions (or more!) 😈 Morbid Humor ☢ Signature "Fallout" Setting 🕵️‍♀️ Noire Style Detection/Investigation 🤪 (In)Sanity Mechanics 🩸 GORY Urban Combat

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

How to prepare

LIVE PLAY MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS •2d20s and 3d6s RECOMMENDED / OPTIONAL •The Fallout RPG core rule book •5d20s and 6d6s •pencil, eraser, & scrap paper •calculator •device with access to Discord •character Props / hats ★WATER (stay hydrated!) & snacks★ OR VTT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: •Make a free Roll20.net account (link for game will be sent prior to session). •Make a free Discord account (link for server will be sent prior to session, game info will be posted there). •Microphone required. (I suggest testing the connection through the settings in discord prior to the game. We will use push to talk to avoid talking over one another and eliminate background noise). •A solid internet connection (will make your gaming experience much more enjoyable). •A webcam is strongly recommended, but is not a requirement. (Sometimes its hard to "read the room" as a GM if we can't see facial expressions/cues, but some people don't like to be on camera and that's totally fine.)

What I provide

If you're part of the VTT, I will provide everything digitally. If you're part of my live game, then this game is being held at the Isle of Games game store in Tucson, Arizona. I will provide almost everything needed for game night, including handouts and pregen character sheets. You must provide your own dice!!

Gameplay details

This module is a intended for experienced and new players! Players should come ready to experience the signature brand of Fallout satire. Dark humor, disturbing themes, and flat out shenanigans are a staple of this franchise, so if you've played the video games or watched the Amazon show, you already know exactly what to expect! REAL CAPS S.P.E.C.I.A.L.!!!! : Any player that brings real bottle caps can spend them in-game. Each real cap is worth 10 bottle caps! (Live game only) This Game is Rated: M for mature | PEGI 18+ | Adult Content Warning: Some players may find content in this campaign disturbing, however, all content is HIGHLY NEGOTIABLE. The most important thing is that everyone has fun creating a story that'll be fondly remembered. During session 0, we'll discuss what content you DON'T want to see, and review the safety tools I use. If you'd like to be more discreet about your content preferences, please, speak with me privately before / after ANY session. By default, 'Fallout : Caps and Steel' has Strong Themes and frankly depicts: Intense Horror, Intense Violence (blood and gore), Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content (adult situations and nudity), Acts of Terror, Gruesome Death, Insanity, Self-Harm / Suicide, Vices (drugs, prostitution, gambling), and Drug Use / Addiction. |

How will character creation work

We will do character creation together during the first session. I will provide the necessary handouts and character sheets too. Right after we finish making characters, the mission starts. **Any player(s) joining AFTER the first session must come with a character made already, or plug & play as one of the default pre-generated characters. I offer Lucy MacLean, Maximus, and The Ghoul as pre-generated characters.
