Haphazard Gaming Presents: Out of the Abyss

How to prepare

You should have a good quality microphone, access to Discord and D&D Beyond. You should be passingly familiar with the 5e rules system. Please, no new players here. We will create characters together, as I have a series of extra roles to help make this possible second playthrough of this campaign fresh and interesting.

What I provide

I am a professional game designer. I bring every book D&D has ever published to a massive library of reference material available at my fingertips. I try to do unique voices to all important characters and many secondary and tertiary character as possible. I also like to stick by rules, but I award creative thought and try to run with a consistent Rule of Cool. I do use Inspiration as it is described in the book, so if I award it, use it. I am the sort of DM who likes to focus on fun first, story second, and rules-lawyering last. If we disagree on a ruling, please bring it up at the end of the game and do not interrupt the session. This is to maximize the enjoyment of all paying players.

Gameplay details

We will begin with a Session Zero. During the game, I will use an Open Door Policy, and we will take a mandatory break at the halfway point of the session. Also, players can take a break whenever the feel the need, for any reason whatsoever. At the end of each session, we will do a round of "Rose, Thorn, Bud" where we discuss one thing good, one thing that needs improvement, and one thing each player would like to see in the future. Each session will list a series of Content Warnings. Once a week, I will be doing a video check-in (not mandatory to use a camera, but I expect at least a voice call) separate from game time of at least five minutes.

How will character creation work

We will be using a Campaign Page I will produce for the game, and use D&D Beyond for character creation. All characters will begin with one Feat. Also, I will not let you start game with an Ability Score lower than a 10. We will be using the XP System, with bonuses for good role-playing.
