A Song of Ice and Fire: The March of the First Men
Dungeons & Dragons 5e, The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
⚔️ Join the march of the First Men as they arrive in this land called "Westeros"! 🧝 Make your own character to explore this new world! 🐲 A unique take on Dungeons & Dragons! 🌏 The untamed wilderness and danger of Westeros awaits! The call has come from the High King: you and your people are to cross the land bridge and venture into the wilds and danger that await you. Anyone brave enough to do so will likely encounter many a hardship, but the rewards will be unparalleled: an untamed wilderness, just waiting for you! A land you can make your own! Before dragons, before the white walkers and the long night, before Aegon's landing and the War of the Five Kings; this is the tale of the First Men, the Children of the Forest, the giants -- YOUR tale! This game uses character classes featured in The Lord of the Rings Roleplay 5e release on Dungeons & Dragons Beyond to give a twist on Dungeons & Dragons 5e's gameplay by almost entirely removing magic from the equation to deliver an experience that feel authentically Westerosi.
Game style
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare
Players would be advised to have a mic available for use with Discord, but text chat accommodations are allowed. Having read up on Dungeons & Dragons 5e or The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying 5e, or other d20-based games, will help the players but is by no means necessary. A free D&D Beyond account will be necessary, as will a free Discord account. https://www.dndbeyond.com https://discord.com
What I provide
I am creating an entirely original adventure within the world of "A Song of Ice and Fire"/"Game of Thrones", specifically for this group and campaign, featuring original characters and situations. While we are using the framework of Dungeons & Dragons 5e and The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying 5e to tell our story, the tale itself is all ours to tell. Additionally, I bring with me a gaming community full of great weirdos. My Discord channel is full of fun people who love gaming in all its forms and fun conversations take place daily. We also run Community Events every month to bring new experiences to the table!
Gameplay details
Your safety and mental health are incredibly important to me. Know that going into this campaign that we WILL be telling a story much in-line with the stories presented in the "A Song of Ice and Fire"/"Game of Thrones" book series. It is not a kind world: it is a violent and cruel place, and there may be occasions in which your character will be expected to partake in violence and cruelty. Never will your character be expected to - or forced to - participate, however. This story is yours, and you can carve your own path thru its world. If that is a path that believes in equity and joy, then carve that path. The story will respond in your wake. Content warnings are non-comprehensive, due to the nature of a bunch of people coming together to hang out together while playing a game. If something comes up that makes you uncomfortable, there are many ways you can make that known, including X-Cards and Lines & Veils. You will never be expected or pressed to share your trauma history with anyone else at the table; simply saying "X this" is enough to change direction of the session.

How will character creation work
Characters will be created during Session 0, and a comprehensive Session 0 will be performed, including discussions on theming and story concepts. Characters will start the campaign off at Level 1, approaching the end of their long trip across the Arm of Dorne and their arrival in Westeros. Players joining after Session 0 will match level with the rest of the party. I will work with these players over StartPlaying and/or Discord leading up to their first session to build their characters and familiarize them with the events of the story so-far.
