Echoes of Icespire: Rise of the White Wyrm

Echoes of Icespire: Rise of the White Wyrm

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Echoes of Icespire is a long-term, character-driven D&D 5e campaign that begins with Dragon of Icespire Peak and expands into its sequels (Storm Lord’s Wrath, Sleeping Dragon’s Wake, and Divine Contention). Set in the rugged frontier of the Sword Mountains, the party is drawn into a growing storm of elemental forces, divine conflict, and a white dragon whose presence marks the return of something ancient and dangerous. This is a Theater of the Mind game—no maps, no VTT, just vivid narration and clear tactical positioning. I run Rules as Written with flexibility for cinematic moments when they enhance story or tension. Combat is fast-paced and strategic, exploration is dangerous and rewarding, and your character’s decisions ripple through a living, responsive world. Backstories will matter. Allies and enemies will remember you. From hunting bandits to facing rising gods, this is a campaign that evolves based on your actions—and rewards character growth, risk-taking, and creativity. If you enjoy smart combat, rich roleplay, and a grounded fantasy world that builds around you, Echoes of Icespire will feel like home

Game style

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

How to prepare

How Should Your Players Prepare? To join my game, players will need: • A mic and a stable internet connection (webcam optional) • Access to Discord (used for voice chat and session communication) • A place to track your character—any format is fine (physical sheet, PDF, digital tools) • A completed character sheet before Session 1 (or work with me to build one!) • No VTT or software downloads required—we’ll be using Theater of the Mind for everything • I’ll be using ChatGPT to manage prep and campaign tracking, so early character info helps a lot You don’t need to read the Player’s Handbook cover-to-cover, but a general understanding of how your class works will make your first session smoother. New and returning players are both welcome, and I’m happy to help guide you before we begin.

What I provide

What I Bring to the Table I run immersive, character-driven campaigns using Theater of the Mind for everything—no maps, no VTT, just fast-paced, story-rich sessions. Combat is tactical and clear without being bogged down by grids, and the world reacts to your choices over time. This campaign follows Dragon of Icespire Peak and its sequels, expanded with custom arcs, faction dynamics, and long-term character impact. I run Rules as Written with flexibility for cinematic moments, and I prioritize continuity, consequence, and your character’s growth across a living, evolving world.

Gameplay details

We will be going over as much as possible in a session zero proper and getting to know each other before jumping into any games, this will allow everyone to share any content that you will not want to see in game and defining ways of dealing with such content if it is to come up in game, we will also be going over character ideas if you have not come up with one already and talking about potential ideas and how to implement them into the game world. I do not do aftercare so please come mentally prepared and able to sort out any thoughts after game in a safe manner or know how to cope with triggering content once each session has ended.

How will character creation work

Character Creation Character creation will take place before the first session, and I’m available to help players finalize their characters or brainstorm concepts as needed. I’ll be using ChatGPT to manage prep, track details, and help integrate your backstories into the campaign, so the earlier I have your character idea, the more tailored your experience will be. Players may use any official D&D 5e source material—everything is open, including Tasha’s, Xanathar’s, and setting-specific content like Eberron, Ravnica, or Theros. You’re welcome to build your character using any platform or tool you prefer (D&D Beyond, paper, homebrew sheet, etc.). Characters will begin at Level 1, or Level 3 if joining mid-campaign. We’ll use Point Buy or Standard Array for ability scores to keep things fair. If you have a unique concept or homebrew element you’d like to bring in, I’m open to discussion—especially if it serves the story and enhances group play. Bring a backstory, even if it’s short—I’ll help you connect it to the world so your character has meaningful ties, secrets, or relationships that can develop as the campaign unfolds.
