Drop-in to the Dungeon of the Mad Mage | '24 PHB | Level 8
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot
About the adventure
Want an end-of-week dungeon dive with no commitment? Did your weekend plans fizzle out? Just want to slay some monsters? Grab a character and get in the Dungeon! "Campaign in a One-Shot" format allows you to play when there is an open seat. With two to five players each session the story progresses from week to week. The Story: Waterdeep is in danger! The massive dungeon, known as Undermountain by locals and as The Dungeon of the Mad Mage by adventurers, is heating up and threatens to explode into the city above. An artifact known as The Deck of Fire holds the power to destroy the dungeon and has been scattered throughout it's 23 levels. Your job is simple, find all 22 cards, and perhaps topple the Dungeon's Master on the way. I didn't say it would be easy. :-) ▶️ Playstyle of this game will focus on getting into the dungeon and rolling dice. The combats will be challenging and the encounters will always be dynamic. I roll publicly and our characters live and die by the roll of the dice. Out of character, the table feel is casual with some laughs on the way and everyone is welcome. Come as you are. Game style
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.
Ding-dong the Druid is dead. The mistress of of the wood and her scaled ally have been defeated, but the treasure is still at large. Join the party as they follow the final clues to discover the missing card on this level.

How to prepare
Bring a character idea and a good attitude to the table. You will need a free Roll20 account, a free Discord account. D&D Beyond with Google or WOTC login https://roll20.net/ https://discord.com/ 💻 A PC, Laptop, or Notebook computer with a stable internet connection is required along with a working mic and a quiet place to play. A decent headset comes in handy if you have background noise. 📷 A camera is not required. I use one during introductions and roleplay.
What I provide
Light background music and an array of 3rd party maps set the stage for crunchy combats and epic showdowns. The dice decide our fates and are rolled openly. We'll have plenty of laughs along with some groans as we dodge bad puns and score critical hits, and misses.

How will character creation work
Characters the same level as the current party will be created before the game using my official resources on roll20 or D&D Beyond. I will provide as much or as little help that you need to make your character. Use these guidelines: (updated: 3/14/25) Start with a 8th level character Point Buy or Standard Array for stats. Begin with Starting Equipment and One Common Magic Item and One Uncommon Magic and One Common item from the '24 DMG . All character sheets must be complete and approved at least two hours before game time. Players signing up after the cut-off must use a premade character unless they already have an approved character sheet from a previous game. Premade characters are available.
