About the adventure

As fresh-faced, first-year students at ECU, you'll be stepping into a world of rigorous academics, unpredictable outcomes, and high-stakes adventure! Between demanding classes and dangerous assignments, you’ll hone your magical talents, expand your knowledge, and write your life story in ways you never expected. Beyond your studies, the campus offers no shortage of opportunities. Join a study group in the shifting shelves of the Arthur Library, push the limits of magical research, join the Bloodball team at the world-famous Hydra Stadium, or take part in late-night mischief at the Owlbear Tavern. Classes, clubs, expeditions, and competitions will pull you in every direction. (If you can keep up, that is.) And if the occasional magical mishap occurs? Don't worry! That’s just part of the ECU experience. After all, nothing could ever go wrong at the safest, most prestigious magical academy in existence... right?

About me

Greetings, adventurers! I’m Luki, and I’ve been a DM on-and-off for about 2 years now, with roughly 4 years of total experience in D&D 5e as both a player and a DM. For better or for worse, I am also what they would call a "theater kid." I grew up with a passion for writing and cinema, and those early influences still continue to inspire the worlds and games I run today. My biggest influences, both in the past and even now, are the LotR series and The Princess Bride (one of the greatest pieces of fantasy media of all time, but I digress). I’m currently running two weekly home campaigns. My main campaign recently celebrated its 6-month milestone, with the group comprised of random people from /r/LFG. My second campaign has just kicked off as a sequel to a 1.5-year-long campaign with the same party. The best part about being a DM is watching you and your characters grow closer and seeing everyone's actions and reactions to the world and the story that we create together. I place a strong emphasis on organic roleplay and natural character development as you explore living, breathing worlds. If you’re a player who craves rich lore, deep roleplay, and isn’t afraid to get a little goofy when the moment calls for it, you’ll fit right in at our table!!

Honestly one of the best dms I’ve ever had. The worldbuilding is insanely good and the cooperative experience of building a world together is great.

Love the characters and voice acting that he does for npc's as well as the world building and effort he puts into the campaign. Definitely beginner friendly as well.

Character creation
Creating your character

This campaign will start at Level 3! The only hard requirements are that your character must be at least of adult age according to their race and must be able to communicate in Common. Other than that, all official and supplemental races and classes are fair game, within reason. Any homebrew content will have to be vetted by me first, but I'm pretty flexible as to what I allow. Character Sheet creation will be officially started during Session 0 within Foundry VTT, but I encourage players to discuss their character concepts with me and the party beforehand so we can really get you integrated into the world!

What to expect
Preparing for the session

All you need to play are a working device and connection to access Foundry & Discord and a working mic! No need to know all of the rules, but even just a basic understanding of how TTRPGs work is helpful! You're not required to have a character before Session 0, but having a concept in mind always helps and we can flesh it out together so both you and your character are more connected to the world.

What Luki brings to the table

During session, there's nothing I love more than getting into character. As a theater kid, I always try my best to give NPCs unique voices and personalities, and make each person you meet a potential story. Even random NPCs that I come up with on the spot have motives, wants, fears, etc. The world of Inys-Tân is a large place and you're merely living in it with everyone else. I am also constantly working on, improving, and updating an original sourcebook for this world. As a player in this campaign, you'll be able to take part in worldbuilding and have your created lore added to the sourcebook that looks just like the real thing!! I'm a rather flexible DM: Rule of Cool all the way. If a rule gets in the way of our fun, we play it by ear to keep everyone invested. My campaigns are much more heavy on collaborative storytelling than you might expect. I'm a big follower of "yes and" and will always make sure that you know that your decisions and actions have weight. You'll have your very own highly-customized Foundry table for you and your party to call home as well as your party's own section on the ECU Discord server to chat and roleplay. For my parties, I like to regularly utilize our RP chats in-between sessions. This helps us build our backstories, push along the campaign a little bit, and get into our character's heads!

How Luki creates a safe table

Before Session 0, I will be sending out an onboarding survey which includes a section for Lines & Veils. I'll compile the answers into a list which will be further discussed during Session 0. If, at any time, any player thinks ANYONE has stepped over the line or needs to discuss their Lines & Veils, you are always welcome to direct message me and we'll make sure your sessions are as comfy as possible. Sessions usually have at least one or two 10-15 minutes breaks in the middle.
