Locathah Rising: Chains of the Rift | 9th Level One-Shot
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot
About the adventure
Within the greatest depths of the Sea of Fallen Stars lies an underwater city on the verge of destruction! Will be lost forever, or can you break the Chains of the Rift? In this Underwater Adventure for a Party of 9th Level players, you'll explore sunken ships, encounter vicious foes, and have a chance to save the Half-Sunken City from a terrible fate. Based on the offcial D&D One-Shot, this homebrewed version adds a bit more nautical nonsense and flare to the adventure. Films that inspired me for this game: Jaws (1975), Finding Nemo (2003), Lu Over the Wall (2017), & Aquaman (2018)
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare
YOU WILL NEED: A Mic, a Discord account, a 9th Level D&D Character with 3 (Non Legendary or Artifact) Magic Items of your choice, and some Dice. Optional: A D&DBeyond Account and Webcam. Here's a link to my discord server: https://discord.gg/TNvJGWhP Feel free to DM me if it expires, or you have any other questions!
What I provide
All my sessions are run over Discord, and although I use Video, I do not require it of my players (meaning you can just use Voice Call if you'd prefer). I also use D&D Beyond, and can send an invite to any players who'd like to run/build their character through it, and use any of the shared source books I have on there as well. Gameplay wise I often do character voices (I'm not a professional voice actor so apologies in advance), abide by the Rule of Cool in most situations (you know, if it's cool enough), and love to use music (but will turn it off upon request, I'm a DM not a DJ). I always strive for a good balance of Roleplay and Combat, and a tone that ranges from light hearted to intense, but these are ultimately things set by my players. I will never force anyone to roleplay, or adhere to a certain level of seriousness. The point of the game is to have fun, so I encourage whatever style of play as long as we're all having a good time.
Gameplay details
We'll begin the session with a quick briefing on the safety tools I use, review the Consent Checklist, and make any requested additions. Once the game has concluded, time will be provided for any aftercare a player may need upon request. Feel free to suggest/request any additional safety tools at any point before or during the game. I prioritize the comfort of my players above all else.

How will character creation work
Feel free to build your own 9th Level Character with whatever method you prefer. I allow every player to choose 3 Magic Items of their choice as well, so long as they're not Legendary or an Artifact, and they don't overlap in rarity (ie; You can't have two Rare magic items). I don't forbid any particular Ancestry or Class, and Homebrew is encouraged if nothing official fits what you're going for. Also of Note: Just because this is an underwater adventure does not mean your character has to perfectly fit the setting. They do not have breathe underwater, worry about fire based spells, or anything of that nature. Make whatever kind of character you'd find the most fun to play!
